Official California Potluck Logisitics Thread (PLEASE READ)

Hi everyone,

As co-chair of the invitation committee for the 2009 California Potluck (aka Sconefest) I need the following info from everyone interested in attending:

Would you be available to attend on August 8th, 2009?
If not, when would you be available?  Be as specific as possible and limit yourself to August, please.

I know that it's a year away, but we need to start gauging level of interest and commitment now in order to plan effectively.  Otherwise, next summer will roll around and no one will know what's going on.  Just trying to prevent mass chaos/anarchy/tears/hurt feelings/wasted money.

I don't understand.  Isn't the point of the events page so that people can register themselves and view the information without having to go through a third party like an email account?  ???

Also, if we want a list serve, then I will just set up a list serve.  I can do that.

I was thinking about using the email to send the page link, instead of posting it here? Just because some people might have an issue with it being out in the open (as hesp said). I dunno!

what i was going to do was just have an email (that isn't any ones main email) that everyone could send an email to if interested. this would make a place for everyone's email to get consolidated... once i had an email from everyone i would send a big one out saying "yay--we're awesome" and everyone could use the reply to all feature to communicate with everyone about this event. if that doesn't sound good to you all that's fine, but the particular email address isn't to moderate everything so much as to get everyone's email addresses together (i know i won't be using it once the mass email has been sent, i would just use my own email address). If you want access to the account or to be the person to send out the email that is fine with me.. just pm or email me for the password.

OK, I get it.

AC, does the events page you are working on take everyone's email?  I just wasn't sure if it was creating extra work where it wasn't needed.

I'm not sure. I haven't gotten that far, because I'm waiting on a certain person to take a look at it.  ;)

OK, it's like I thought.  The event page collects emails, and you can even export them to an excel file or what have you.  The point of making it was to avoid anything too manual and make it automatic.  I think this will work.  8-)
