Frozen Tofu

I sometimes freeze my firm tofu, but I bought a pack of 'Soft' tofu and chucked it in the freezer (my fridge was full)..  I plan to use it in the next few days.. So my question is, what will the freezing do to the texture?  The package actually said "do not freeze"..  Anyone done this before?  I need to know whether it will be 'broken' and if i should perhaps buy some more..

If by soft tofu you mean 'silken' tofu, the kind that comes in the aseptic box package (e.g. Mori-Nu brand, it's not packed in water), I have frozen it before and I see why it would say "do not freeze" though I apparently didn't see the warning on my package. The problem was that it didn't thaw right, it just completely crumbled and was not usable or edible.  :-\

Yeah, it sounds like the aseptic silken tofu, which will be completely unusable if you freeze it. Silken tofu is used for desserts, sauces and dressings, puddings, etc. It's not anything like run-of-the-mill tofu.

You might still be able to make some soy mayo out of it, good luck!

ive done it before too, and with  a littlebit of whipping it was okay. Im sure it would be fine in smoothies or something that you dont need the smoothest of consistencies. Im not sure if it matters by brand or not.

There is a chik'n nugget recipe on here that uses soft, frozen tofu....somewhere....

Ok guys, the result: bad.  I defrosted it today and it looked and felt like a kitchen sponge.  It was alright to blend up as a sauce/dip, but it had lost its creamy or silky texture.
