NancyK .... I got my first order from Penzey's!

;D

Holy marjoram! I can't believe what a great deal I got. Except for garlic & onion grans, which we use lots & lots of, so I bought bigger quantities of, I purchased the quantity of spice that was closest to the same price I would pay in the store. I would say that generally, I got twice the amount of spice for the same money!  :o

I've been saving my spice bottles so I'm good to go. Also they sent a catalog & there are some custom spice mixes they have that sound great.  :D

ps - how are you? I've been busy at work with less time to surf.  ::) I am taking next week off, though & I think we are going to make a pizza using Dragonfly's cheese sauce as a base with roasted garlic cloves & sliced mushrooms as toppings. ~~smack! Hope you are well.

Excellent! Glad you like Penzey's...and yes, what a bargain, eh? I LOVE that place. I used to live about 5 minutes from one, now I'll have to do mail order.  :-\ (It may be less dangerous that way, as before, I'd go into the store and buy EVERYTHING!) Have you tried their toasted onion granules? Oh, they're mighty good!

I'm doing well...like you, very little time to surf. I have been on VegWeb very sporadically. I generally get home from work at 7pm (leave at 4:30am, yuck) so I'm not home very much, needless to say. Weekends, I've been quilting. But we are loving our more country-like surroundings. A very veg-friendly place to live, lots of farms, etc.

Let me know how that pizza turns out!! That sounds wicked-good. Enjoy your week off!!!!

PS...how's Booya?

Glad you're still around! Did you move? You put in a looooonnnngggg day, girl! You must have to get up around 3:30?  :o  The Booyah is doing just fine! He is such a love! He plays like a puppy with his towel, tossing it & flipping it about. We have such fun with him. He turned 7 in July & we had a little bd party for him & the cats. Here's a nice shot of him at dusk with his towel.

Love the picture! He's such a gorgeous boy! Our girl dog Zuni just turned 6 in June.
Yep...we moved up to northern Illinois, and yep, I get up at 3:30. I drive to the train station in the dark, with my sunroof open and the stars in the sky. ;) We're about 20 minutes from the Wisconsin border. It's nice. Have you seen the movie "The Real Dirt on Farmer John?" His farm is about 20 minutes from here.

I was just thinking the other day that I had to make a batch of your biscuits. I'm so glad you came up with that recipe...they're fab!!

Hey, sorry to butt in.  But biscuits?  Is the recipe on the site?  They must be good...

You've gotta try these...Lezly came up with a winner.

Here's what I copied from Lezly's post:

Lezly’s Perfect Biscuits!

BTW, I have finally made almost perfect biscuits. Here's my recipe.

1 1/2 cups unbleached white flour
1/2 cup nutritional yeast flakes (I used All Season Blend)**
5 teaspoons baking powder
1 teaspoon salt
3 tablespoons Earth Balance, chilled
2 tablespoons shortening
1 cup vegan buttermilk (I made it with apple cider vinegar this time instead of lemon juice. I think it worked better.)

Mix the flour, ny flakes, baking powder & salt. Cut the margarine & shortening into the flour mixture. Add the buttermilk & stir into a dough. Roll out, cut & bake approx 10-12 minutes in a 450° oven.

These were great!! Oh, & I used a sharp cookie cutter & it did make a difference.

**from the "Uncheese" cookbook. Dang good stuff!

These biscuits rule the universe.

I can see I was really excited about finding the perfect biscuit recipe!  ;D  I now just use cold Earth Balance & no shortening. Doesn't seem to make any difference.

Your new place sounds divine! I grew up on a farm & miss the wide open skies & dark nights. You must have some good dog walking routes!  ;)

Today is a nice overcast day & a bit chilly. Good day for baking a pizza.  8)

Thanx for sharing...can't wait to make them!  And VWAV tempeh sausage crumbles...mmmmmmm.  *runs to kitchen*

My husband has come to love the tempeh crumbles. Now whenever I make them I double the recipe. One batch goes straight into the fridge & the other batch gets made into the white bean gravy. Man, I love that stuff! The plain crumbles are great on pasta with a little of Dragonfly's cheeze sauce. Oh yum!!

I didn't get to that pizza yesterday. I found a tub of tofu that is almost out of date so we have tofu scramble instead. It won't last long, so there will be pizza soon!
