i HATE beets! There so healthy for you though :-\ . I try to cut them up real small but its always a struggle (I eat them raw).
Just curious ...do you have any veggie that no matter what its hard to eat? What about fruit.
Least Favorite
Veggie-Beets
Fruit- Oranges (I LOVE clementines though)
I didn't say that EVERYONE that drinks at a young age will become an alcoholic... but I do think that is the case for some.
Oh, I know....It also depends on your genetics and your mental health. :-\
No, I mean Twink is 14.
Thank you for pointing that out. :)
I had the same reaction when I saw it. (I'm a Mom w/ a daughter about her age)
Don't like papaya even though love every other fruit!
Don't like green olives.
I dont know whether this falls under veggie or fruit, but it's ginger. Fresh ginger that is. I will use it in recipes because it addes to the flavor but regualar fresh ginger, like with your sushi or something, just tastes like eating soap. As if someone took a carrot peeler to a thing of pinkish or yellowish soap and gave it to me. Blech.
least fav veggie;
i can NOT stand OKRA!!! it is so slimy no matter what you do to it. i hate it plain, in stews, insoups, on salads, fried, boiled, grilled, on trains, planes and automobiles. i can NOT stand okra!!!
least fav fruit;
fresh pineapple makes the roof of my mouth peel. i like my mouth skin in tact thank you.
veronica
Oh man, I'm not the only one that happens to? Awesome. I thought I was the only one whose mouth peeled in the presence of fresh pineapple...cause no one else I've ever known has complained of that. I still love pineapple though, even if it does tear my mouth up...it's so delicious!
As for my least favorites,
I like oranges, but I hate eating them fresh, because I either have to do so much work to get all the pith and membranes and seeds off of each segment, or I have to eat something that literally makes me gag on the way down.
I freaking hate olives, at least the black ones, and I've never had any others. Raw onions are horrible. And I think as far as a fruit, I'm going to have to go with the Kiwano melon. If any of you have tried that...I'm sorry. If any of you haven't, DON'T! It's a cool looking fruit, but when you slice into it, you are greeted by eight thousand closely placed seeds suspended in a mucus-like substance. It has no flavor and the texture is vomit-inducing.
Least favorite veggies: brussel sprouts and eggplant
Least favorite fruits: mango and mandarin oranges
But I do love cilantro!
Least favorite veggies: green peppers, black olives most of the time (I will eat one or two every few months), onions, iceberg lettuce, soft apples
Hmmm, I have never eaten a vegetable I did not like. There are a bunch that I have yet to try (Brussels sprouts, for example), but I am not really opposed to any of them. I guess iceberg lettuce is my least favorite. Blech.
Fruits: I just can't like mango no matter how hard I try. I don't know why. I like mango-flavored things a lot, but the actual fruit just tastes off to me. I also can't stand green bananas. Only the mushy, spotted kind for me.
Other than that, pretty much any fruit or vegetable is my friend. :)
Vegetables: I'm not a huge fan of raw tomatoes, but they are growing on me. I also don't really like raw onions, but I LOVE cooked ones. Oh, and I've never had good eggplant. I'm willing to give it another shot, but every time I've had it, it's been 1) tasteless, 2) oily, 3) soggy, or 4) all of the above. And any veggies included in a shitty salad at an un-veg friendly restaurant--tasteless iceberg lettuce, dried carrot slices, wilted cucumbers, and underripe tomatoes. Yuck :P
Fruits: I seriously love all fruits that I've tried, but I (like KMK), do NOT like green bananas. I've had bananas on my counter for nearly 2 weeks now and they won't freaking ripen!

Oh, and KMK, you should try this recipe w/ mangos: http://www.mexgrocer.com/273-blackbeanricesalad.html I didn't like mangos either, but I really liked this!
Olives
This thread is fun to read! :D
Veggies I loathe: olives (does anyone else think the olive cart at the grocery store smells like diarrhea?!), cooked carrots, cooked celery (I like them both raw)
Yucky fruits: pears (I like pear-scented candles, lotions though!), cantelope, honeydew, pretty much any melon (except watermelon)
Other than that, I pretty much love everything else. I LOVE cilantro with a passion but some of your responses have made me laugh. It's definitely one of those things you either love or hate- no middle ground there!!
Not a big eggplant fan. I'll eat it, but I don't buy it. And just for the record I like cilantro.
I find Watermelon to be rather disgusting. The texture is like florist's foam and the taste is watery and strange. I always so wanted to love it because hey, I love picnics.. but no, it was not to be.
Berries with tiny itsybitsy seeds annoy me - like blackberries or raspberries.
I never liked celery, but have come around to eating it in my soups and anywhere that I can cook the crap out of it.
I'll generally eat pretty much any veggie or fruit otherwise, but I really only stick to a few staples during each season.
I think my objections are to be found more with certain herbs instead of fruits n veg.
ohh that and any mushroom smaller than a portobello.. blech.
Least fav veggie: MUSHROOMS. I can't even bring myself to cook with them.
As for fruits, I love all of them. :>
Any vegetable that comes out of a metal can tends to taste like the inside of the can, to me. Canned carrots have no flavour at all. I'd as soon eat a goldfish. I buy frozen stirfry or cook my own, and I'm fine. But a tin can? Come not near me!
i don't understand some canned vegetables... like potatoes or peas. Potatoes store fairly well, and peas come frozen. Canned food seems cheap, but it's often more expensive than fresh or frozen (except for tomatoes). Even beans are way cheaper made from scratch, though I get the convenience reasons.
I mostly dislike brussel sprouts, definitely dislike turnip and beets. I've had beets raw shredded, cooked from scratch, and canned. Blegh, blegh, blegh.
Fruit... I actually don't like grapes :X but I like fake grape flavor. I know, I'm horrible. And also... mangoes and cantaloupe. I really wanted to like mangoes, but there's something vomit-y about them & their scent.

So true about cans! I never understood this. At a canned food drive recently, I was like, can't we get them something healthier? The selection of veggies that come in cans was even sadder than the state of them.
I wish I hated mangoes! I have a contact allergy to them, and can only eat them if I'm careful to never ever touch them and only consume them through a straw. Sometimes, my spouse helps me with this, which is *awesome* because I really miss them.
I always hated cooked bell pepper, although I love it raw. Cooked, it's too mushy and loses all its flavor.
Can't eat a bunch of veggies anymore, like broccoli, cauliflower, cabbage, because my intestines hate me - just looking at them makes me feel sorta sick.
Never liked mushrooms or olives, like many people - but those make sense to me. One is a fungus; the other has to be soaked in brine to be edible. Not real vegetables anyway.
There's quite a few types of fruits and vegetables that I haven't tried because the stores here only sell the more common stuff.
veg: Celery is by far the most vile demon spawn vegetable on the earth (that I know of). I can't even hide it with other foods without my tasebuds screaming in agony from the evilness.
fruit: I'm not fond of green apples and fresh pineapple burns into my soul (but I love it canned).
lima beans are my arch-nemesis. *shuddder* what I think they taste like belongs in Do Not Disturb, and the texture is nasty.
raw tomatoes geek me out unless they are cut super small with all the gelatinous gack washed off, but cooked is OK.
I don't like any kind of melon, cherries, red delicious apples, yellow delicious apples, or peaches. Kiwi...someone has to get it out of the nasty fuzz for me.
and as for the great Cilantro debate, am I the only one who thinks it tastes like soap when there's too much of it?
