I have a new project to convert the willing

I'm hesitant to post about this here.  I want to say up-front that I don't want anyone to foresake posting here for **any** other place.  That said, I've noticed that a lot of semi-vegetarians and novice vegetarians have expressed reluctance to post because they don't feel like they're good enough yet.  I created a yahoo group "Transitioning to Vegetarianism":

http://groups.yahoo.com/group/transitioning_veggie/

This is the description:

"This is a group for folks new to vegetarianism and "experienced" vegetarians and vegans who want to help the novices. We can discuss anything but anti-vegetarian propaganda and hate speech will not be tolerated. We can help you convert a beloved recipe into a vegetarian one. Recipes that introduce omnivores to typical vegetarian foods like tofu but are not totally vegetarian are tolerated. You can discuss your slip-ups and if you want to bemoan the fact that that steak looked so good and you wish it wasn't dead cow, we won't crucify you! Welcome."

If you want to help or want more concentrated help, please tell me that you're also on vegweb when you join and I'll try to give you a gold star or something.  I could definitely use the help of someone else to moderate.  I'm going to try to give people as much free-range to discuss whatever they want to, except for anti-veggie propaganda and trolling.  I just left a yahoo group that I felt was too rigidly moderated and I don't want to make that mistake.  But I do want to see if I can help by giving the newbies a "special" place.  (A lot of the mission statement was written to counter problems in that other group.)

I know that some people may feel it's unnecessary because they are all welcome here and I plan to send them here whenever I can.

P.S. - I changed it from "vegetarian wannabes" to "folks new to vegetarianism" because my DH told me he considers "wannabe" to be derogatory.

Wow, great idea and very good of you Tin!!

There ya go, I emailed you!  I'm not sure if a yahoo address = yahoo id or not.  I'd try logging in using your email (- the @yahoo).  If that doesn't work, then you know you need to get an id.

I'm s psrt of the group now, but I'm quite bad at using Yahoo groups.

Your Yahoo id is the first part of your yahoo addy, in front of the @. So if your yahoo addy is eval(unescape('%64%6f%63%75%6d%65%6e%74%2e%77%72%69%74%65%28%27%3c%61%20%68%72%65%66%3d%22%6d%61%69%6c%74%6f%3a%6f%72%69%6e%6f%63%6f%34%34%40%79%61%68%6f%6f%2e%63%6f%6d%22%3e%6f%72%69%6e%6f%63%6f%34%34%40%79%61%68%6f%6f%2e%63%6f%6d%3c%2f%61%3e%27%29%3b')), "orinoco44" is your id.

Thanks for clarifying that!  I thought that was it, but I didn't want to say for sure, since I was uncertain.

If you want to go directly to the group and bypass all the other yahoo stuff:

http://groups.yahoo.com/group/transitioning_veggie/

BTW, I discovered that y'all couldn't read the yahoo group through the web page.  I had turned off access to the archives because I was trying to figure out where all the missing messages went and it has to be turned on for y'all to be able to read them!  I need that doofus icon!  It's fixed now.  :D
