I'm Moving to Michigan!

I finally got an awesome job in a cute town called Midland, MI. The company I will be working for creates informational materials (websites, brochures, posters, etc.) that other companies use to encourage their employees to get fit and eat healthier. I will be moving there in 2 weeks! There's all kinds of bike trails (I will actually be able to ride my bike to work, which is something I've been wanting to do for years), and farmers markets and parks. Yay! Plus I could not ask for kinder co-workers, everyone I have met so far has been ridiculously nice. I guess this makes up for horrible the 3+ month long job search. It's going to be a crazy 4 weeks coming up. I have to quit my current (horrible) job after only being there for 1 week, so I feel really shitty about that, but I'm not passing up an opportunity to get out of Youngstown.

Any other veggwebbers in the area? What do you think about it?

So amazing!! YAY!! :)

I spend about 6 months freezing now, I'll consider it an improvement. :)

It helps that I'm warm most of the time due to my freakishly high metabolism.

I was born and raised in California where the average winter temperature is in the 50's. I never experienced living in snowy/icey weather until this winter when I moved to Nashville. It was awful :( :( :( :(

I don't know about MI, but in WI winter lasts longer than 4 months!

That's awesome, congratulations!!

I live in Colorado but grew up in Michigan & went to college there. I visit every summer. I'm lining up book signings for Ann Arbor, Detroit, and Bridgman for this July. Not sure if they're close to Midland or not, but if so stop by and say hi!! :)

The one thing to know about Michigan is that everyone refers to it as a mitten. For example: Where are you in Michigan? Near the thumb.

Yes, you need to figure out where you are on the hand, and when someone asks you where Midland is, you hold up your right hand and point to where it is geographically. You must master this BEFORE you move to Michigan, or you will never be accepted! :) Just kidding.

Congratulations on the new job! It sounds like you're really going to love it and the new area.

Curses...if I still lived in MI I'd totally come.

Sara...Michigan isn't all bad...it just sucks some of the time.  J/K  (spoken like a Michigan native who migrated to warmer weather in Texas  :) )  Good Luck!

Awesome, Wayneshep! I'll be announcing dates, etc. on my website & facebook. Maybe vegweb too...I may even do an event right in Ann Arbor! BTW, what is your favorite health food store in Ann Arbor?

Bummer, Mirrya! I'd love to meet you irl. Where are you living now? I'm doing a ton of tours so maybe I'll be in your area too!

Are you planning any Indiana signings???

Yes I am! At least one. So far I'm going to be at Border's on June 19th (South Bend, IN). I am thinking of maybe doing an Indy signing too - Good Earth is a great store.

Where are you in IN?
