You are here

You know what really grinds my gears.......

Ok so maybe I'm just a weirdo, but there's silly little things that really bug me for no apparent reason - what about the rest of you?  Is there any little thing that really annoys you, but probably shouldn't that much?

Ok I'll start:

I hate it when peolpe jiggle their legs up and down when they're sitting down.  Some people will do this continually and I HATE IT.  There's no logic to my annoyance but it really bugs me.

It also bugs me when women put their make up on on public transport - just wake up earlier if you want to wear it - and don't give people dirty looks when they stare at you.

WRGMG: Why is that some people just can't accept the fact that I love animals? Why do they assume I don't give a rat's hiney about people/children just because I have a heart for helping animals? I mean, really??? One can't love people AND animals?  :-\

I my experience, most people love neither so it's mind-boggling for them to meet someone who loves both.

When that happens to me at restaurants, I like to have a loud conversation with the manager about how their service also suggests they don't respect religious food restrictions and remind them how much trouble McDonald's got into for that.

It's like a friend of mine trying to explain her (severe) food allergy at a restaurant and getting eyeroll and "why don't you eat at home then?"

Guuuuuuuuhhhhh!!!  I haaaaaaaate that!!!  A lot of my friends in the food service industry feel exactly this way and IT DRIVES ME UP THE WALL!!!

ummmm that's pretty much why i do just eat at home or at a vegan restaurant... if i had severe allergies to something common i probably would just eat at home

If a place cannot or will not accommodate to my needs I will not eat there. I went 15 years without having a birthday cake, I just don't want to be left out anymore.

What gets me is those places that claim to accommodate allergies/special diets but have no clue what that claim entails.
A bakery I worked at had their "vegan" cake option, which was just their one vegan muffin batter (banana bread) baked into a cake pan. But they didn't properly wash utensils in between mixing/scooping other batters, and they were constantly dripping other batters into the banana bread-filled muffin and cake pans when large batches were being made.

I made the mistake of trusting the catering manager on the set of "Odd Life of Timothy Green" when he gave me the vegetarian lunch option. He told me the vegetables were steamed, even though they were slimy with some kind of grease. "Oh, that's just vegetable oil" ...on steamed veggies? and it tastes like butter? I paid for that one for the rest of the day. :P

my dance team is comprised of a bunch whiny little fucks. they complain about absolutely everything and talk about how much we suck, but they refuse to do better and do their part to make the team better. and apparently now my best friend isn't talking to me because of something SHE did. she was yelling at me for no FUCKING reason and i got annoyed with her and i guess she saw that i was annoyed and thought the appropriate reaction would be not to apologize, but instead to get pissed off at me and not talk to me. ok. what the fuck ever. i'm allowed to be mad when i legitimately have a reason to be, which she gives me every single fucking day of my life when she scrutinizes everything i do. but i never show it. and the second i do i become the bad guy? fuck that shit. i can't deal with people. i need to get away from here.

she's probably used to treating you that way and now that you are sticking up for yourself she can't handle it... idk most girls bug the hell out of me and these girls sound like just the type i can't stand... hopefully you can meet some cooler and nicer peeps soon <3

yeah thats exactly it. she's used to me letting her walk all over me and never saying anything about it. and the thing is, even if i tell her that i'm mad and explain why, she won't get it. she'll tell me why i shouldn't be mad that she was yelling at me for no reason because somehow it's not her fault, and that it's totally justified that she got mad at me because i got mad at her. i dont get itttt. why do people think they can treat me like a fucking rag doll?

Set boundaries, VH. Those are not friends, they are people you hang with. You need a new bestie. You've had that one for too long and she's past her use-by date. When people use you to vent or to make themselves feel better than you, they are not friends. I know it's tough but you really need to detox some relationships.

Is there nowhere else you can dance?  Every dance "season"? these people mess with your emotions and head.  It's a toxic relationship.  There has to be a place, e.g., workshops, where you can cruise around for a different dance group that's not filled with toxic poop.

haha i love this. and i totally agree

hh- there are, but not in this town. i could take ballet up here, but that's pretty much it. there's absolutely zero hip hop places up here and that's pretty much why i stay. even though i'm not really learning anything because i'm doing the hip hop choreography, i get to perform it and that's my absolute favorite part. so i figure i might as well suffer through it because i love performing.

I never use technology based visual aides for presentations unless required because I had depending on them to work. My hair bleach one I did today required a power point and I dreaded the fact of going into class it it not loading or something. We had to email them to our prof before class. I said I'd go first, he pulls it up NO PICTURES WORK AND THAT WAS ESSENTIALLY WHAT MY TALKING POINTS WERE.
I still wound up with an A, but HOLY GEEZE. Reasons why I feel we should always have options of what type of visual aides are used.

Also, I was in the library working on my term paper and met up with some one so she could keep me from falling asleep, and she had to work on it also, so I figured it would just be us sitting there typing. Every 3 minutes she was like HEY LET ME READ THIS SENTENCE TO YOU, DO YOU LIKE THAT ONE? Ugh. I had headphones in and was insane concentrating and typing like crazy. Three times she interrupted me when I was trying to practice timing and what I say for my presentation for my chem lab which was next. SERIOUSLY?! ahdfkjahesd agh.

Yahoo Mail is grinding my gears right now. Instead of just rolling out the upgrade, they give you the option to stay with classic...and then for the next week they hide the link to "Return to Classic" so you have to search for it every time you want to open your mail. It's there, you just have to squint as the print gets tinier and more obfuscated.
Their upgrades never work for me. And it's obvious they know that because otherwise they wouldn't even offer the option, they'd just change it all.

Sorry about your mail woes. I just popped in to say that your vocabulary continues to kick butt - I love it.

That totally sucks, vj!  I had to do battle with my family when my daughter went veg too.  You really should be able to trust your own family to respect your choices.

Not a grinding of gears but a "really pisses me off":

I'm pissed at the constant want of the republican majority to find ways to take away voting rights away from citizens.
I'm pissed at the criminalization or dismissal of women only because they're women. This constant need to dominate them or to make their decisions for them or to pat them on the head is absurd.
I'm pissed at the radical religious (not all religious) getting a free ride when it comes to spewing their hate speech. Calling people fags and celebrating their death isn't religion.
I'm pissed at people refusing to help the environment in any way. I'm not perfect but I'm doing all I can and still want to do more. Don't make fun of me or give me shit because I choose to recycle or refuse to become an out-of-control consuming sheeple.
I'm pissed at not having equal rights and opportunity for everyone.
I'm pissed at the fact that gays are denied a right to live the lives they choose.

Sorry...it's election day here in Ohio and I always get fired-up/pumped-up on election day.
