I just scored a....... (a thread about finding great deals!!!)

I  love to brag about how little I paid for something. Like my $2.00 boots, or $14 Tofurkey dinners. This thread is dedicated to all the good deals we find!  8-)

I just scored (2) three pound tubs of Earth Balance for $2.99!

At this gross discount grocery store which hardly has anything vegan, they had these HUGE ASS tubs of EB (commercial size?) for $2.99 each. I did not realize until I got home that she only charged me for one, and NO I did not go back to correct her error! It is sort of far away (now I'm sure karma will bite me in the ass at some point). But jeez.....6 pounds for 3 bucks! I need to take a picture so you can appreciate how large these are. They are bigger than my head.

Anyone else get any good deals lately?

Haha!
wait, does the 5 pound bag really cost 115? I almost was going to pay $40 from the HFS with 10 percent off.

There's a place here called Amazing Savings that sells cheap food. IT was there. I'm sure they had no idea that this stuff is like crack and worth $$$$$!!!!
I would love it if someone would come here and we could shop there together.
I will send you back with some Daiya if you come see me!

yeah, a five pound bag costs 40, and since you bought three (=120) but only paid about five dollars, you saved 115.

Not anywhere as good a deal as the daiya (I am soo jealous) but good anyway:

a huge bag (2 pounds or so) of mixed sweet peppers
2 large banana peppers
2 poblano peppers (as big as my foot, no joke)
2 good sized jicama
a pound of onions

All for about $3.00. Yes, I'm on a pepper kick right now.

I found a hand-crank ice cream maker for $5 at Goodwill. Now I just need some recipes!!!

Raw Chocolate Chocolate Chip Ice Dream

2.5 cups of filtered water
3 handfuls of cashews - maybe 1.5 - 2 cups?
2 tablespoons raw cacao powder
2 tablespoons shredded coconut
10-12 medjool dates
1/2 - 3/4 cup of cacao nibs
Squirt of agave nectar

Put everything EXCEPT the cacao nibs into a high-speed blender (like a Vitamix-Mix) and blend until creamy. It will be thick.
Put into ice cream machine, adding the cacao nibs and use the ice cream maker as directed.

I've never bought cacao nibs, so the few times I've made this I skipped that ingredient. This stuff is sooo good.
