Superstar VegWebber of the Week: carrot_wench!

carrot_wench (http://vegweb.com/index.php?action=profile;u=69986) cracks me up. The answer to best romantic recipe on VegWeb had me laughing for a solid minute. Also, she speaks the truth! Plus, she loves rats and so do I! Because rats are the BOMB! They are smart like dogs, in one adorable little package. Plus, her delicious low-fat black bean/veggie burger (http://vegweb.com/index.php?topic=15430) is the first burger I ever made off VegWeb and it did not disappoint. All in all, carrot_wench is the personification of why VegWeb is so awesome. It's no wonder several VegWebbers nominated her! Yay carrot_wench!

VegWebber since? February 2007 ...but I'd been using the site for at least two years prior.

Vegetarian, Vegan or ? just about as Vegan as any human can be

Where do you call home? A barn in rural Georgia. We call it "The Vulture Venue"

What do you do when you're not on VegWeb? Reading, Drawing, Sewing, DIYing something, Inventing recipes (often by accident), and performing with the local REPO! The Genetic Opera shadowcast!

Do you have blog or website? Well, I have facebook...? You can find me in the VegWeb fb group.

Do you tweet? No. I usually just bark, meow, and brux like a rat.

One unique thing we should know about you?...well, I prefer having rat friends over having cats. Or even dogs, who I do love a lot...

What’s the best thing about being vegan? (if you are!) I LOVE feeling healthy and energetic, my always-expanding cooking skillz, my low grocery budget, my appreciation for Earth and her creatures, AND informing others about why I possess the aforementioned badass qualities.

Favorite romantic recipe on VegWeb? Any chocolate- and/or fruit-based dessert, especially if it's in ball form. *snicker* Y'know, like Date Balls of some kind.

Favorite recipe on VegWeb to make for non-vegans to show them how amazing vegan food can be? That yummy Chocolate PB Pie, or some variation thereof, to prove that cream pies can be vegan, AND that tofu has several great uses.

One thing you wish you could make vegan but haven’t succeeded at yet? I still struggle with making good, fluffy-yet-moist cake of any flavor. *sigh*

#1 Cooking secret/tip? Tofu is, in my opinion, at its best when frozen, thawed, and marinated in some yummy potion...often involving soy sauce/Bragg's, spices, oil and a touch of vinegar.

Best music to cook by? Depending on the dish(es)... 60's Rock n' Roll, 70's/80's Classic Rock, Epic/Stoner/Doom Metal, and/or Funk: The Beatles, Buddy Holly, REO Speedwagon, AC/DC, Boston, Blood Ceremony, Electric Wizard, Galactic, Liquid Liquid, etc.

Three people you'd most like to have dinner with? ...who I haven't dined with before?  Frank Zappa, Jim Morrison, and Terrance Zdunich. Or, for an all-living ensemble, I'll keep TZ and throw in Paul McCartney and Woody Harrelson.

All time favorite restaurant(s)? ...I don't like going out to eat much, but as far as price, good food/service, Vegan options, and sustainable practices: Red Avocado in Iowa City, IA; Soul Vegetarian and/or Planet Bombay in Atlanta, GA.

French fries or ice cream? Both? ...but, Y'know, ice cream in most cases.

Soy milk, rice milk, almond milk? Soy for the price, but Almond for the taste.

Tofu, tempeh, or seitan? Even though my man puts out the best homemade, fried seitan I've ever had.... Tofu reigns over all. I think I eat that stuff every day, in some form or another. Tofu is mother to the best scrambles, jerky, sammich slabs, mayo, cream pies, ice cream...You name it.

congrats!!!
