Superstar VegWebber of the Week: IdrilAsphodel!

This week's Superstar VegWebber is IdrilAsphodel (http://vegweb.com/index.php?action=profile;u=136390). First of all, let me say, if I had it this together when I was 20, I'd already be president. Or like the president of a Fortune 500 or some country's queen. Seriously, IdrilAsphodel has it TOGETHER! She's funny, smart, and has a very healthy thing for Kathleen Hanna. As a person with a pulse, I also have a thing for Kathleen Hanna. Yay IdrilAsphodel!

VegWebber since? Technically March 2010, though I spent years clicking through recipes and creeping on the boards.

Vegetarian, Vegan or ? Vegan since August 2009. Vegetarian for a while before that.

Where do you call home? Baltimore during the school year, Chicago's west suburbs when I'm not in class.

What do you do when you're not on VegWeb? I'm an artist so I maintain a full time artist studio in addition to whatever I'm doing. I read, ride my bike, hang out with friends, discuss feminism, and cook.

Do you have blog or website? I'm in the process of building a professional site with all my work on it.

Do you tweet? naw.

One unique thing should know about you?  I am obsessed with cats. Not all that unique, but still. Cats.

What’s the best thing about being vegan? (if you are!) the message boards. I love the personalities that take shape on some threads. Also recipes that can travel with me wherever I bring my laptop.

Favorite romantic recipe on VegWeb? Vegan French Toast. With sliced strawberries on top. Oh yes.

Favorite recipe on VegWeb to make for non-vegans to show them how amazing vegan food can be? Tofu pumpkin pie. I've brought this recipe to Thanksgiving and watched jaws drop.

Favorite healthy recipe on VegWeb? Easy palak Alu (Spinach and Potatoes). I make it pretty much once a week at least.

Favorite VegWeb recipe for 4th of July?  Black bean and quinoa salad--though I always sub the quinoa for millet. Either that or the pineapple upside down cake.

One thing you wish you could make vegan but haven’t succeeded at yet? Anything with zucchini as the main ingredient.  I dunno why, but if it's zucchini being cooked by itself, it always ends in disaster for me.

#1 Cooking secret/tip? Add beans to it. Beans make everything better.

Best music to cook by? Riot grrrl, french electro, shoegaze, dream pop, indie. Anything Bikini Kill or Blonde Redhead.

Three people you'd most like to have dinner with? Joan Mitchell (a painter), Kathleen Hanna, and Isa Chandra Moskowitz

All time favorite restaurant? Chicago diner!! <3

French fries or ice cream?  French fries. But ideally I'd have both.

Soy milk, rice milk, almond milk? Almond milk--the unsweetened original kind.

Tofu, tempeh, or seitan? OH how can one choose?! I can't. They're all awesome.
