A good veggie article for a change

My Omni friend sent me this link today.  It's encouraging to see MSN posting articles like this.

So does this mean I'll get a better primieum the next time I get health or life insurance? That would be awesome!

They talk about the "blandness" of a vegetarian/vegan diet in that article.  I don't know about you, but I find it anything, but bland.

I don't know if you all have had the same experience, but the longer I am vegan, the less I like sauces and flavorings and the more I prefer the real taste of real foods.

I thought the article was ok, but still could have been a bit better.  For example, as LDF pointed out, insinuating vegetarian food as "bland."

I checked out the "Nutrition Tips for a Vegetarian Diet" video link there from the Today show and thought it was very disappointing.  Among other thing, whomever their expert is, she's not exactly encouraging about being able to actually get all your nutritional needs from a well balanced veggie diet.  She doesn't seem to be all too well-informed to me.   ???

The link to the article on MSN Fitness, "Are Vegetarians Healthier?" was ok, too.

But yeah, it's good that at least there is some somewhat positive news about eating veggie.

This caught my attention as well. My veggie diet is far from bland! Maybe if you only eat sprouts or something it's bland, but there are just so many good things to eat. I think the only time I've had bland food is when I've gone to a restaraunt or something that does not normally cater to vegetarians, and thus only serves boring food like a plain iceberg salad with tomatoes or something. But that is VERY rare.

While I haven't gotten past my love of spices and sauces and such, I have noticed that I do not use dressings or dips the way that I used to when eating raw vegetables. I used to be all Ranch, all the time. Now I use dressing sparingly; dips hardly ever. I prefer stuff that moistens the salad and maybe adds some zip, like oil/vinegar, vinagerettes, or even just lemon juice; but does not mask the flavor of my wonderful veggies. :)
