Brownies

What you need:

2 cups flour (I use enriched and whole wheat), divided
1 cup water
1 cup brown sugar
1 cup granulated sugar
1 teaspoon salt
1 teaspoon vanilla extract
3/4 cup baking cocoa
1/2 cup vegetable oil
1/2 teaspoon baking powder
1/2 cup chopped nuts, optional
1/2 cup vegan chocolate chips, optional

What you do:

1. Preheat oven to 350 degrees F, and grease an 11x7" pan. Boil water and 1/2 cup of the flour over low heat, stirring constantly, until it reaches the consistency of a thin gluey paste. Remove from heat and let cool completely.
2. Mix vegan brown sugar, granulated sugar, salt, vanilla, cocoa and oil. Then add the flour and water mixture. Mix well.
3. Add the remaining 1 1/2 cups flour, baking powder, nuts, and chocolate chips.
4. Spread mixture into prepared pan. Bake for 25 minutes, or until a knife can be inserted and come out clean.
This was a really easy, and really tasty recipe. I gave some to my friends and they fell in love with them. They keep asking me to make more. I thought of maybe putting some chocolate frosting on them, but they were perfect without it. Enjoy.'

SO HOW'D IT GO?

i was very surprised how wonderful these brownies came out to be,
they were moist and fudge-like and very filling.
this was actually better than the brownies i used to make.
all of my non-vegan friends LOVED them
i highly reccomend this recipe

Oops, forgot to add that I did have to keep them in the oven 10 extra minutes, for a total of 30 minutes, which seems to have been perfect.

I made these last night to take to a friend's birthday party.  I'm not a huge brownie fan, so this was my first time attempting brownies, vegan or otherwise.  I did add the optional chocolate chips and walnuts.  In general, I think they came out really well, but I'm glad that I decided to frost them, because that added the right amount of moist contrast.  Overall, great recipe!  And so easy.

This recipe was so simple to follow and the results were amazing!  I didn't have vegan chocolate chips or nuts but I can imagine how great those additions would be.  The only bad thing is that I can see myself eating all of them myself.  :)

There's something wrong with me! whenever I try and bake it goes wrong! ahh :-\ this turned out way too oily, it was frying instead of baking.. and when I took it out of the oven it had some oil kind of swimming on the top. Another problem was my fault.. it was really bitter because I tried to replace the sugar foolishly, and the replacements didn't work. I'm gonna go crazy unless the next recipe I try works!

These were great!  I kept them in the oven A LOT longer... but I also used a smaller pan.  The only thing that I didn't like as well was being able to taste the oil.  Next time I may use less.... will that mess up the recipe?  But it sure satisfied my chocolate craving tonight!

These Brownies RULE! Me and my girlfriend made these. They were completely amazing. I put grinded walnuts in the batter. My parents (who arent vegan) thought they were good. ;D
