Easy and Decadent No-Knead Wheat Bread!

What you need:

3 cups whole wheat flour
1/3 cup unrefined sugar (or other sweetener)
1/2 tablespoon salt
1 (1/4 ounce) package dry yeast
1 teaspoon cinnamon, optional
1 2/3 cups warm water

What you do:

1. Mix all the dry ingredients in a bowl and add the water last. You can use an electric mixer, but I find a spoon works fine and is much easier to clean. Grease 1 loaf pan.
2. Pour the batter into prepared loaf pan and smooth out the top. Cover the dough with a towel or greased plastic wrap and let it rise for about and hour (until its doubled in size). Preheat oven to 400 degrees F.
3. Bake for about 45 minutes (until a toothpick comes out clean).
This is really a treat with a nice raspberry jam. Such a simple pleasure! One can also add 1/3-1/2 cup raisins for a scrumptious cinnamon-raisin vegan bread.'

SO HOW'D IT GO?

This was fantastic. Decadent definitely is the word to describe it. I followed the recipe's instructions except for one deviation, I baked it at 375 instead of 400 and boy am I glad I did. Super moist, although a little on the sweet side. I'm SO glad I doubled the quantities.

Really good, easy recipe.  Made this last night and it turned out great even though I overcooked it a bit.  Top was a little hard but soft throughout.  Test came this a.m. when I toasted a slice and added Earthbalance, a little brown rice syrup and cinnamon for my daughter...she loved it! I cut thinner slices for our sandwiches and although slices are narrower than most store bought breads, it's also denser so still satisfying.  Happy to be able to make bread at home when it's getter harder to find affordable bread in the stores that don't have enzymes.

Thank you for this recipe... It is AWESOME! :)>>>
My little girl is allergic to wheat, so instead of the wheat I used 1 1/2 cups sorghum flour, 1/2 cup millet flour, 1/2 cup potato starch, 1/2 cup tapioca starch, and 1 tea. xanathan gum.
I have made this several times now and every time it comes out just great!  It's the best GF bread I've ever had. Thank you, good bread is really something I've been missing! :D

I tried this recipe today, but unlike some others who said their bread did not rise mine grew a lot. It grew so much that it over-ran my loaf pan. LOL I was using the kind of yeast that comes in a jar. Not sure if that makes a difference. At any rate the kids love it and my 5 year old likes the fact that he can just about make this one on his own (with mommy there to put it in the oven and take it out). The kids also wanted it to be a bit sweeter so next time I will try apple juice to replace some of the water and sweeten without adding more sugar. Thanks thanks thanks for this recipe. Oh yeah this review is for the raisin cinnamon version.  ;)b

My daughter went BALLISTIC :-D over this recipe. She is 11 months old. She is not really a picky eater but I just hated giving her store bought bread. The recipe was perfect. Everything was perfect. The only thing I did not do was grease the plastic wrap I put over the bread. When I took the plastic wrap off half the bread stuck to it. Now I know why you have to oil it! I had no clue. I have never been successful making bread for her but this was super easy. I cut half of it into really thin slices and backed them until crispy. I made Zwiebak teether biscuits out of them and the other half is still ready to eat. I cannot believe how easy that was. I could go on raving forever! :)>>>

I LOVE this recipe!  I was suspicious about the quality of the bread since the recipe is so simple, but the end result was great!

The bread is extremely moist, fluffy and tastes very good!  Yay!

Everyone who is skeptical, you must try this recipe!!  You will not be disappointed.
