Kids' Power Smoothie

What you need:

1/2 cup plain or vanilla nondairy yogurt*
2 tablespoons raw cashews
1 teaspoon flax seed meal
1/4 avocado, pealed, pitted, and chopped
1/4 to 1/2 cup pineapple or orange juice
1/2 frozen banana
1/4 cup frozen blueberries
4 frozen strawberries
*Optional: agave nectar to taste, especially if plain yogurt used

What you do:

1) Put the yogurt, cashews, flax, avocado, and the minimum amount of juice in a blender and blend until smooth. It will probably take a minute or two to blend the nuts. Add the frozen fruit slowly and add additional juice if needed. You will probably need to stop the machine a couple times to scrape down the sides. Blend in the agave if desired. Pour and serve.
Source of recipe: I am trying to lose weight, but obviously my slender preschooler is not. She wants to eat what I eat and has recently decided she doesn't want to eat nuts/avocados with her meals. She loves smoothies, so I threw this together to sneak some healthy fats into her. There is a yogurt flavor, so I wouldn't try this with kids that won't eat yogurt.

SO HOW'D IT GO?

This is AMAZING! The avocado is undetectable-perfect for my non-avo loving son! I even used a half of a large avocado and couldn't taste it at all.  He is napping right now, so he hasn't tried it yet, but I am sure he will love it!
I did it just like the recipe, except I subbed raspberries for strawberries, and flax seed for the meal. In the Vitamix it comes out super smooth!
Thank you!

Great Idea! Can't wait for my picky toddler to try this. I will report back! I need to get some avocado first.
