Lentil Burger Helper - Quick and Easy

What you need:

1 (1-pound) bag red lentils
1 (26.5-ounce) can Sloppy Joe sauce
salt, to taste
pepper, to taste
other spices, to taste (optional)
1 (1-pound) package macaroni or other pasta, prepared according to package directions
nutritional yeast, to taste (optional)

What you do:

1. Cook lentils for 25 minutes. If you use another type of lentil, adjust the cooking time accordingly. Drain and return to the pot.
2. Stir in the Sloppy Joe sauce, salt, pepper, and any other spice you'd like to add; cook on medium heat until thick.
3. Stir in pasta. That's it. You could add nutritional yeast for a little cheesy flavor as well. Enjoy!

SO HOW'D IT GO?

this was so yummy and so easy! i love sloppy joe sauce. i was totally planning on using lentils, but then i found tvp at my grocery store so i got excited and used that instead, and it was really good! forgot to add nooch and spices and it was STILL good. meat-missing hubby liked this, too. next time i will try with the lentils. thanks for the idea!  ::)

The taste of this (with some nutritional yeast-y goodness added) bears such a strong resemblance to Cheeseburger Hamburger Helper, it's slightly disturbing. But completely delicious!!! :D

Thanks for helping us satisfy those disgusting pre-veg nostalgia cravings we're all ashamed to admit to. lol
