Orgasmic Cinnamon Rolls!

What you need:

Cinnamon rolls:
3/4 cup nondairy milk
1/4 cup margarine, softened
2 3/4 cup unbleached, all-purpose flour
1 (1/4 ounce) pack fast rise instant yeast
1/4 cup white sugar
1/4 cup water
1 cup brown sugar, packed
1 tablespoon ground cinnamon
1/2 cup margarine, softened
1/2 pecans or vegan chocolate chips (optional) Optional icing:
1/4 cup margarine, softened (I use Earth Balance)
1/2 teaspoon vanilla extract
2 cups powdered sugar
1 tablespoon nondairy milk (I use soy)

What you do:

1. Preheat oven to 350 degrees F. In a saucepan, heat the milk and 1/4 cup margarine until boiling. Remove from heat and cool until only warm. In a large mixing bowl, combine 2 1/4 cup flour, yeast and white sugar, and whisk to get all the lumps out). Add water and milk/margarine mixture to the dry mixture and whisk just until it forms a rough dough that pulls away from the sides of the bowl. Add nuts and chocolate, if using.
2. Dump dough onto a floured board (or clean counter), and knead in the remaining half cup of flour. Knead the dough for 5-7 minutes (pressing up with palms and folding again and again) until the dough is perfectly smooth. Put the dough in a slightly oiled bowl, cover it with a clean, slightly damp towel and let it rise for 10-15 minutes.
3. Sprinkle the counter with flour and using a rolling pin, roll dough out to a 9X12 rectangle. Combine 1/2 cup margarine, brown sugar, and cinnamon and spread over the entire top surface of the rectangle. Start with the long part of the rectangle and roll it up the short side. Using a serrated knife, cut each cinnamon roll about 1 inch thick.
4. Place cinnamon rolls into a greased pan, (9"X13") Cover with a damp towel and let rise for 10-15 minutes. After cinnamon rolls have risen, bake for 15-20 minutes, depending how gooey you like them.
5. For icing, combine all ingredients. It will be very creamy and taste just like regular cinnamon roll icing. Spread on icing and watch even omnis say, "MMMM!!!!!!!!!!!! I never would have guessed these were vegan!"

SO HOW'D IT GO?

Can you use just a regular small pack of yeast? I'm new to Vegan Cooking. I would really like to make the Cinnamon Rolls. I can't find Instant Yeast where I live. The recipe looks YUMMY!  :)>>>

I cheated and used Trader Joe's pizza dough for the dough. I used the filling and the frosting recipe, but exchanged the vanilla in the frosting with Vanilla Bean Paste..... they were AMAZING!

These turned out doughy for me as well. :( Still yummy, but I was expecting amazing. I think next time I will split up the rolls into 2 pans to bake them.

These are really yummy and easy to make, I make them all the time. I cook them in cupcake trays, the one time I cooked them all together they were a little soggy and doughy even though I cooked them for twice as long. In the cupcake trays they turn out perfectly though. I made these for a party and one of my friends said as she ate one "Thank god you made some non vegan stuff! These are great".
I also crushed up some oreos for the frosting. I thought it was a little too sweet but everyone else liked it!
Thanks for this recipe.

These are absolutely fantastic.  I made a few alterations, just based on my own tastes: I added a pinch of nutmeg to the cinnamon mixture, two pinches of salt to the dough, I only kneaded in about an additional two tablespoons of flour and I used a combination of all-purpose and bread flour.  Next time I think I'll make only 3/4 of the mixture because it was a bit much for me.  It oozed out of the buns and into the pan and left little carmelized chewy bits (which was fine for me).  I'm almost ashamed to say I ate three of these myself, but I'm eating for two so I'll blame it on that.  I also made a different frosting, which was more of a glaze, because I didn't have vegan powdered sugar, but I think it complimented the taste of the rolls well.  Will definitely make these again, thanks!

These were reallllly good!!!!  I wanted a special treat so I actually followed the recipe exactly (usually I try to make everything-even desserts- healthy  :)).  The only thing I added was a little extra water to the dough b/c it seemed a bit dry when I was kneading it.  Thanks for this yummy recipe!!!
