Pizza Crust

What you need:

1 (1/4 ounce) package yeast
1/3 cup lukewarm water
3 cups flour
1 teaspoon salt
2/3 cup lukewarm water

What you do:

1. Preheat oven to 450 degrees F if baking crust now. Dissolve yeast in 1/3 cup lukewarm water and let stand 10 minutes.
2. In a bowl, mix flour and salt. Add the yeast mixture, blend, then add 2/3 cup lukewarm water to make a pliable, elastic dough.
3. Form into a ball, cover with a clean cloth, and let rise until doubled in a warm place (about 20-30 minutes).
4. Roll out dough onto pizza stone or a flat pan; leave a lip around the edge. Top with olive oil, if desired, and spread sauce; add toppings of your choice. Bake for about 20 minutes, until crisp.
Variations: Add 4 teaspoons basil for a more flavorful crust. Knead in 4 tablespoons margarine for a more pastry-like crust.

This was the best pizza I ever tasted. I put evo on the pan. And added a enough oregano (whatever that was) on the yeast and flour mix. I added the cheese, green bell pepper, plus the pizza sauce, and umm, I added onion, spinach, and tomato. It was bomb.

And I also added some TLC!

I feel full in a good way, mmmHmm!  ;)b

This turned out wonderful!  I had to add about 1/3 cup more water to make everything stick together.  After the dough rose, I rolled it out, brushed it with a little EVOO and added some pasta sauce, black olives, green pepper, banana peppers, mushrooms, and spinach.  I topped it with oregano, parsley, basil, and crushed red pepper flakes.  Delicious!

Not what I was expecting. I first tried the other two more popular pizza crust recipes on here, with no luck, and this recipe falls into the same boat. It just didn't taste right! I added the basil and margarine, like the recipe mentions. It did not come out cripsy and chewy like pizza you would get at a pizza place. I'll have to keep searching so I don't keep inhaling the Amy's No Cheese frozen pizzas! Now THAT is some good crust!

The first time I made this recipe I remember it didn't turn out well... I trashed it... The second, third time around, I did 1 of the variations... I added the "butter" but for the spices I used garlic powder, onion powder, and parsley instead of the basil to give the crust a ranch like flavor... Very good crust... With the variation...

I also let my dough rise by setting the oven on the lowest setting and leaving the bowl of dough right on top the opened oven door (if that makes sense)

I tried this out the other day.. First of all, I must say that I was super proud of myself when the dough rose. :) :) :)
I added some herbs to this, and it smelled amazing... but it didn't taste like much. It was probably my fault though, as I can hardly cook. I added olives, tomatoes, eggplant, sprouts.. I put a ton of spices/herbs on it again, along with a few dashes of nutritional yeast. The center of the pizza wouldn't cook though. I later added some spaghetti sauce on top to attempt to add flavor, but it still somehow lacked potential. It ended up in the trash. :(

TL sauce is a must! your pizza looks so good but next time use some pizza sauce!
