Mama's Broccoli Salad

What you need: 

1/4-1/2 cup raisins
2/3 cup vegan "bacon" bits
1/4 cup purple onion, chopped
1/4-1/2 cup peanuts
2 bunches broccoli
1 tablespoon dry mustard
1/2 cup sucanat, agave syrup, brown rice syrup, turbinado, or preferred sweetener
1 teaspoon salt
1 cup salad oil
1/3 cup white wine vinegar
1/2 tablespoon poppyseed

What you do: 

Clean and cut broccoli into pieces.
Combine raisins, "bacon", onion, peanuts, and broccoli in a bowl.
Add the dry mustard, sweetener, salt, oil, vinegar, and poppyseed, and mix well.
This recipe, like most of my relatives' recipes, is not particularly healthy, but it is very good. It is better if made several hours beforehand, but prepared fresh is just fine too.
Source of recipe: My mother made this before we were vegans.

Haha, well the cup of salad oil doesn't help too much. I think I meant it's original version, however. I'm glad you like it!
