Sloppy Drunk Joes

What you need:

1/2 medium Vidalia onion, diced
1 (4 oz) can diced green chiles
1 teaspoon minced garlic
1 cup textured soy/veg protein or veggie crumbles (prepared)
1 small can tomato paste
1/3 cup vegan red wine
1 teaspoon vegan Worcestershire sauce
1/4 teaspoon chili powder
1 tablespoon sugar
1 tablespoon olive oil

What you do:

Heat olive oil in medium skillet over medium heat. Add onions, garlic, and chiles, and saute for about 5 minutes. As this is cooking, in a small bowl, mix the tomato paste, wine, Worcestershire sauce, chili powder, and sugar. You can add more of each depending on your tastes. Next, add the textured soy protein to onion mixture and allow it to saute about 2-3 minutes. Lastly, add the tomato sauce mixture. Cook for 10 minutes, stirring well. Serve on pita bread or roll and enjoy!

SO HOW'D IT GO?

I haven't tried the recipe, but it looks good and I plan on trying it. I just wanted to add comments about the worchestire sauce. In Tennessee, Kroger brand does not have anchovies in it.

Really very good, but it was missing just a little something for me, so my variation was to add:
1 tsp sea salt
1 tsp brown mustard
1 Tbsp Tobasco

Loved the sloppy joes, did not have the red wine so it was left out, still was good, easy to make :)
