my awesome new cookbooK!

i jsut want to reccomend thsi book to everyone, it's called "How It All Vegan!" by tanya barnard and sarah kramer.
it has a good background on the vegan philosophy, a complete list of animal-derived ingredients, and recipes for a lot of beauty and cleaning products.

not only that, but every recipe i have made out of it so far has been amazing!  and it is LOADED with recipes!

I eyeballed that at Borders a couple of weeks ago, but didn't have the time to leaf through much of it.  Nice to hear a good review, I shall have to go back and check it out more thoroughly.

"How it all Vegan!" is a great book. Their Classic Chocolate Chip Cookie recipe is a favorite among my vegan and omnivorous friends. I also love their Ginger Snaps and the Garden Medley Vegetable Stew.

What are your favorite recipes from the book?

I got this as a present, and for some reason Im not very interested in making anything from it...but Im not sure why

I just seem to be more interested in trying recipes from here and VWAV instead

I understand that.  I got Vegan Planet as a present and have been making things out of it and feel like I'm missing out on recipes from VWAV and here.  So much to cook, so little time.  Plus it's too hot here to do anything other than a quick stir fry or pasta on weeknights.  I save my more complicated recipes for Saturday and Sunday dinners.

More applause for "How It All Vegan."

I made the "Maple Walnut Brownies" from this book last week, and again last night because they were so delicious. Went fast at the events - both predominantly non-vegan attendances at both -  I brought them to.

I didn't have walnuts so I used chocolate chips. Perfectly moist brownie texture. Sweet and gooey chocolate chips when eaten right out of the oven, and still fantastic after they've cooled.

Thanks! :)

I am looking for another vegan cookbook because I loooove cookbooks.  I have VwaV, and while I really like it, it's always nice to have another book to flip through for ideas.

How are the recipes in terms of complexity (both in time required and number of ingredients) - i like VwaV but some of the recipes take a really really long time.

I also love their Ginger Snaps

Really?  I ended up with seemingly thousands of giant, puffy, flavorless cow pies.  They couldn't have been further from "snaps."  I was thinking that maybe 1 tsp baking powder AND 1 tsp baking soda was an error...

I turn the Banana Oatmeal Cookies into bars instead of cookies.  I use whole wheat flour, oil instead of applesauce and sometimes nuts instead of chocolate chips.  They make a nice morning snack.

Like Adam, I don't feel inspired to make many of the recipes.  Actually, I was going to send it back shortly after I got it, but one day I needed to know how to roast individual cloves of garlic and I couldn't find it in any of my other books.  I told myself that if How it all Vegan could tell me, then I would keep it.  And it did.

Leena-- The recipes are not very complex.  Some ingredient lists are short and some are long, but the instructions are usually very short.  Not too many obscure ingredients either.
