Things I've Cooked on the George Foreman Grill

I thought it might be a good idea to start a thread about things you've cooked on the George Foreman grill. Not all of us are lucky enough to own or have access to a gas/charcoal  grill, so we have the ol' Foreman to satisfy our grilling needs!

I got mine out last night, and I'm determined to use it on a regular basis. So, vegwebbers, what have you cooked on your George Foreman grill? How long did it take? Were you satisfied with the results?

I'm hoping to hear some strange and wonderful posts!

I will start:

Last night I cooked the Simple and Yummy Textured Soy Protein Burgers http://vegweb.com/index.php?topic=15746.0 on the Foreman, and it did a fantastic job! I've got problems with homemade veggie burgers falling apart in the past, so I usually bake them. However, I was really craving a real grilled "burger" so I decided on the Foreman. Great idea! The outside got crispy and the inside was soft and yummy. Since I didn't have to flip the burgers, like in a skillet, they didn't fall apart.

Perfect success!

I use it for my chickpea burgers...but that's really all....I have a huge one and its quite the ordeal to get it out of the cabinet....I stuff it in the back and its just annoying....but if I could think of any other good ideas for it, I might bump it up to the front...
We do have a outdoor grill though, so in the summer, that's what we use...

Oh! I just remembered that I used to make garlic bread on the GF grill. I'd mix minced garlic with EB and smear on a piece of bread, sprinkle on some herbs, then put in the GF. It would get crusty on the outside, and this was way quicker than using the toaster oven.

Half the time I forget that I have it, but it's good for grilled sandwiches.

;)b  Good thread VR!

let's see...

slices of zucchini marinated in italian dressing
portobello mushrooms
black/white/red bean burgers (the ones with oats in them tend to fare best)
slices of sweet potato (run thru the microwave first!)
slices of white potato (ditto the microwave)
morningstar farms veggie links
bell pepper sticks

I'm sure there's more, but that's all I can think of right now...I actually wore my little GFG out!

Well, you sort of inspired it when you were talking about grilling your zucchini on it.  So thanks!

I hadn't thought of sweet potato before. Good idea!

I cook the morningstar farms bbq riblets on the foreman.  I will scrape off as much as the bbq sauce as I can on the thawed riblets, then put it on the grill and cook it until it is slightly chared and heated through.  As they are cooking I will heat up the sauce in the microwave and then put that on top of the riblets when they are done.  The chared taste gives more of an authentic taste if you were to cook the real thing on a bbq grill.

spray, spray, spray!  Cooking spray is ESSENTIAL if you are cooking taters of any kind!

I previously owned a George Foreman grill.  I always grilled a ton of veggies on it.  It does take a while to grill a bunch of veggies due to the small size of this grill, but it works fine.  I veganized this recipe for Great Grilled Vegetable Sandwiches with accompanying  Herbed Mayonnaise from Rachael Ray, adding grilled tofu (also down on GF) and omitting lettuce.  Super tasty!

I don't have one, but a former roommate did.  We used it to make quesadillas.

ohmygod YES! It's so good. My mum and I are either preparing our asparagus that way or steamed for Easter dinner. It's so good. So are the big onion slices, by the way :)

I got the veggie burger mix from my co-op, the kind you just add boiling water to and let sit, then make into patties. I made these last night (GREAT for when you're really short on time to cook dinner), and I cooked them on the Foreman. They seemed a little bit mushy for my taste, so I left them on the grill for about 25 minutes, and they got this really crispy outside and the texture was much nicer than I imagine it wouldn't been if I had baked them or pan fried them. I used absolutely no oil (because I didn't want to clean the grill!). They didn't stick at all.

My boyfriend said they almost reminded him of chicken patties (the Boca kind), because they had the crispy outer layer. The inside was still a little mushy, but I couldn't really do much about that.

I love putting things on the grill, walking away and getting other things done, then coming back a half an hour later!

That all sounds good!  I'm going to have to research a George Foreman Grill now.  My family has a large outdoor grill but they use it for meat.  There is a side infrared part that they do not use so it is meat free.  Off to do some window shopping.
