You are here

the BOOBS thread

written "BOOBS" and not "boobs" to maximize the semblance to boobs.

continued from the "'you're kind of heavy for a vegan'" thread. We were complaining about boob size, but anything boobs-related goes here. Complaints, praise, musings, whatever.

Mine have a bit of all-over padding.  I get nipply easily, so I like that part, but it's slight, and definitely not cleavage enhancing like a push-up bra.

This. Just enough padding to cover the nippliness. I'm really conscious of it because in hs people made a point of telling me every time it happened.

hmmm, I find it really tough to find bras that are NOT padded/push up.  It just seems that every single bra is padded nowadays.  Even the ones for people with big boobies tend to have padding.  WTF is up with that.
I used to search and search for bras that had no padding but I have since given up because it is pretty much impossible (or at least for me as I hate clothes shopping and don't spend much time looking for stuff::))

This has been something I've really struggled to avoid. I don't want more padding, I don't want push up. I want a simple sling to keep my girls up. Period. It drives me nuts. Why put padding in a DD? Most DD girls don't want to be DDD or bigger! Stupid.

Yeah, it's for the nipples. Also, it makes the illusion that my girls are even >.>

NewShoes, you make me  :)

The "although I probably come across as less cool" should have been "I'd".  It will relieve you to know that I don't own a push-up bra.  I'm going to be in a wedding and the strapless bra I bought for the dress is a push-up.  It was the only one low cut enough.

Conceptually, I'd wear one.  Not for his everyday friends, but for holiday office party friends or reunion friends or something like that.  Although, I also think it's kind of weird, because we females know immediately who is wearing extra padding.  You'd think guys would get good at this knowledge, too.  So what's the point?  I do think that women with larger breasts have more social currency to spend.  The trade off is that larger breasted women are more likely to have girl drama, probably because society coddles them more.  (Yes, I know this isn't true for all women, but it's true among all the women I know, save one.)

I don't know if this is interesting or not, but if I were to date a woman, I wouldn't ever think of wearing a push-up bra.  (I always say that the reason I won't date women is to avoid the girl drama, but the type of women I like - the Cokie Roberts / Katherine Hepburn type - wouldn't have girl drama.)

:)

Hell, who am I to talk? I find it's nearly impossible to find a comfortable bra in my (tiny) size that isn't padded or wired. While I don't buy them for the purpose of making my chest look larger, they definitely have that effect. It's crazy how intricately the objectification of women's bodies has been woven into our society. How ridiculous is it that it's hard to find a bra that doesn't "boost" our bodies to more closely fit some cultural ideal of beautiful? Gah.

If I'm really honest with myself, I'm small enough that I don't even need to wear a bra. I've tried going braless though, and it makes me feel completely naked and exposed. Sometimes I feel like bras are women's shields in the world.

I'm inclined to agree with you... Women generally perceived as attractive (often having bigger breasts) are often in a slightly more powerful position. It's tricky though. Sometimes, I think being perceived as more attractive might be a disadvantage in social situations. For example, a woman who is trying to move into a leadership in business might really struggle to prove herself deserving of promotion to a boss who is too busy drooling over her good looks to listen to the words coming out of her mouth. Same thing goes for more casual social situations... I imagine it's really frustrating to try to have a meaningful conversation with a guy whose eyes are glued to your chest!

Someone said it's obvious when girls wear push ups (the girls know) but guys don't. Same goes for breast enlargements/surgery. To me it is obvious, but it seems like guys don't notice. ANd if they do know, why would they find that attractive?

I took HH"s post in a totally different way. I think she sounds confident with her breasts and body, but for the right person, would be willing to play the game....the boob status symbol game. Although, perhaps if HH felt compelled to play this game, then that person is not the "right" one?

ETA I still loved New Shoes' response  ;)b

Yes.  I have extra at my hips/thighs and have small breasts.  And I'm comfortable with myself.  For example, I go to the gym so I can comfortably do more sports (kayaking!), not because I'm trying to boost my confidence.

And yes.  If I ever have self-image doubts, I want New Shoes around.  Her post was awesome.

I think sometimes guys know boobs are fake, but they just don't care. Big=awesome, right? Who cares if it cost 10,000 dollars???

This is really funny: I've pointed out enough fake boobs (on TV, nobody where I live could afford a boob job) to my boyfriend, now when he sees big bulbous round rocks he goes "those are totally fake" in a really stern, serious voice. It's hilarious.

Warning: Male Opinion Ahead!
Not this guy. I find fake boobs a big turnoff. Big and fake draws attention but I don't find it sexy at all. I can spot fake boobs, 100% of the time when they are. . . uh. . . unpackaged. Also ladies. . . your girls do not need to completely defy gravity. Having them respond to gravity is sexy too. Protecting from too much gravity (sports, etc.) is forgiven.  :)

Not to mention having the added benefit of absorbing the dreaded underboob sweat!

It's not generally not too obvious under normal clothes, but with skimpier clothes a short observation of the way a girl's figure moves with movement will usually tell you very quickly whether they are real or not.

It is going to be interesting when the new implants that are grown from your own tissue on a biodegradable frame, and than implanted into your body come out in the next year or two and nobody will be able to tell anything anymore.

Wrong.

Huge turnoff when it comes to the general population.

There are exceptions for things like cancer and having kids (not that those are equivalent, but that I completely understand when women are upset after having kids and their breasts are not the same after breastfeeding), but generally fake boobs raise alarms in my head.

What kinds of alarms? Like what is your first reaction when you think someone has fake boobs?

I believe the reason why you can be a different size every time you get measured is that our bodies are not static. What we eat, hormones etc can make us swell up. Even weight fluctuates during the day.

The sizing for all women's clothing is confusing and really makes shopping a chore. I understand that women come in more shapes then men do, but that still makes me wonder why we have sizes that do not relate to actual measurements?

We measure under the bust but then have to add five to that. Why? That makes no sense.

I am 36 C but sometimes the cup is a bit too big for my boobs.

My bras, all three of them, are padded to keep from nipping out. And I wash them once a week so I wear them a few times in between.

I got lucky a few years ago and bought two bargain bin sports bras from Victoria's Secret but they are in serious need of replacement.

Gravity has taken over. I miss my 20 year old ones sometimes because I could go braless but now I don't feel like I can.

"No thanks"

I like breasts of all shapes and sizes, but at the same time I don't feel that any particular shape or size is so much better than another that it's necessary for a woman to undergo surgery for my benefit.

As mentioned, if it's a self improvement thing due to cancer, childbearing, or whatever else, then that's not my call and more power to you. But for a guy to sit around and say "I like big boobs, you should get implants!" - bleh, bad call.

Thanks for your honest response. I know how my boyfriend feels about fake boobs, and other than that I had no idea. If I went strictly off what the media tells me, then guys LOVE huge fake tittays. I was just curious.
