ANNOYING ROOMMATE

well...my roommate and i have a love-hate relationship. i don't want to bore you all, but long story short, she thinks she knows everything, even about subjects she knows very little about.
she is an omnivore who is constantly bragging that she only eats chicken, shrimp, and pork, so she says she doesn't eat much meat...this makes no sense to me, but going on....

i was talking to her yesterday, mentioning that a long time ago i read an interview with jordan sparks, talking about how even if she becomes very famous, she doesn't want to be a health-crazy person, and she will continue eating at mcdonalds all the time. well i told my roommate that is ridiculous and not a healthy lifestyle. i mean..i don't expect everyone to be super health-councious but there is a serious obesity problem, especially with younger people in america, and when they read this, they will just feel like hey its ok to eat like this. i feel like celebrities should be more aware of the effects of what they say and/or promote.

anyways...she responded like 'well eating unhealthy isnt the only thing unhealthy; living in a city with pollution isnt healthy either' i was like WTF. so i responded 'yeah well living with polluted air will not give you diabetes, heart disease, hypertension, etc.' she was like 'well i know you grew up in a health-consious home, but not all people worry about stuff like that. some people just want to live to be old' i dont understand what she was saying, but to me it made no sense.

does anyone understand this? agree with it? disagree with it?

i know this post was long, but im sorta venting right now. thanks for listening guys

your roommate's a tard. lol. my ex roommate was like that, too. she had a 1.5 gpa, but tried to tell me i was wrong about everything. she honestly thought she was a genius but all her teachers failed her because they didn't like her. lmfao. sometimes you just gotta nod and smile because they just won't ever listen.

Ha!  If anyone is going to have advice it'd be vh.  You could put 18 exclamation points after the subject heading for her last roommate.

Your roommate is of the position that if you can't do everything right, you shouldn't try to do anything right.  She sounds boring.

What people eat is controllable by the individual much more so than whether they live in a city where there's work or school.  It's a hierarchy of making easy changes (floss regularly), to moderate changes (eat healthy non-animal foods), to hard changes (move to an unpolluted tropical island with warm water for swimming and a fresh-water waterfall for washing the salt out of your hair while you eat tree-ripened fruit).

Eating non-animal foods is easier for me than flossing, tho'.  Maybe those should be switched.

;D

I hated having roommates... at least, when you finally get fed up with 'em, they're easier to ditch than a spouse!...  but-- point/ counterpoint-- they're not usually giving you backrubs & rowdy make-up sex after pissing you off... so... hmm, close call as to which is more difficult to put up with, lol!

Your roommate sounds like the sort of person with whom productive debate is unlikely... 'I think it, therefore it's true' & 'The world will never be perfect so why try to do anything' are boring yet common views, which don't accommodate reasonable discussion well. Say what you think, once or twice, then shrug & go about your business without getting drawn into it too much. Sharing a household for financial reasons doesn't imply that you have to actually *talk*, haha! Just ignore her as much as possible, when she's saying stupid things, until she can be replaced... Invest in some good noise-reduction headphones, and don't scrimp on iTunes downloads... that'd be my advice. Good luck!

Those are the types that you simply cannot carry on a an intelligent conversation with. The sense of logic and reason is skewed and you will never be able to make any point or educated them in any way.

i bitched about her A LOTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTT on vegweb, talked to as many people as i could about her, and i ate a lot. lol. that last one probably isn't a good idea. i really wasn't happy at all for the semester i lived with her and once i finally moved out the depression lifted and i was back to normal. just know that this isn't a permanent situation.

that's so terrible! i feel bad for complaining now. mine is just annoying, but doesn't make me depressed. if you don't mind me asking, what did she do that was so bad?

she talked shit about me to EVERYONE, including my sister, she made me feel unwelcome in my own house, she acted as if she was doing me a favor by letting me live in her shitty ass apartment, complained about me being messy, had people that i thought were my friends pitted against me, and was just a disgusting human being overall. she wouldn't even say hi to me when she walked in the door (i always said hi just to be nice) and never even looked at me, but now she stalks my facebook and drives by my house every day.

VH, it's obvious to any thinking human being that you're not the one with the problem.... :o

Block her on your facebook.  You will be doing yourself a favor.  And if I were you (especially if you think she is unstable and not just a bitch) call your local police department and have it documented that she is driving by your house daily.

it definitely did!

so don't worry about your roommate, it's not permanent, you can always move out or just stick it right back to her.
