Egads!  You're creative and you can DIY.  I sometimes have the inspiration, but I can't get it to look like anything.  Seriously, you rock.

:-D :-D :-D :-D

i tried this once. bad idea! maybe it was the fabric i tried to use (not stretchy enough)

i suggest re-outfiting old ones you have with new parts.

hm, well i saw a couple suggestions online.. i dunno, it is just a matter of bringing my sewing machine down.

I LOVE READYMADE!!  ;)b and craftster! and You, Me and Everyone We Know. ???
i love DIY, but my dog seems to  disappear when the fabric comes out. she knows an outfit may ensue! haha.

Unfortunately,  i have been in a bit of a rut these days...ive been starting projects and not finishing them...
but the warm weather always seems to bring in the inspiration.

You guys are fabulously crafty!  I am DIY at heart, but unfortunately I haven't had much time to do much this semester.  I love the shoes, Sea_of_green!  Me and You and Everyone We Know is a great movie.

As a crazy, 'punky' teen (just a few years ago....) I used to make a lot of my own clothing items..and other such things. I still like to make crafty things..but haven't done much lately.  8-)

verry neat stuff in this thread.  i especially love oktokrewl's skirt and bike.    i make stuffed ghosts and other creatures out of scrap fabric.. and enjoy sewing clothes to make them fit better, diy is the best way to go  :)

I think my life is a patched up DIY project...oh wait, it IS DIY.

Okay, but seriously.  I love taking old stuff and redoing it.  In the past year:

Antiqued an abused dresser and went from awful to awesome.
Bought a second hand diningroom table and refinished them, recovered the seats with a scrap of fabric.
Recovered an old folding chair with a tapestry sample.
Recovered nasty old throw pillows into nice ones.
Took apart a microwave cart and built a faux fireplace for an electric space heater that looks like a iron wood burning stove.

And the biggest project...turning a 28-year-old abused, unloved mobile home into an elegant living space.  I have done floors, plumbing, repair, painted walls, rewired some, new ceiling fixtures, new subfloor, new bathrooms, painted cabinets and the list goes on.  The best part was the price ($3000) and the fact that it had so much potential like extra insulation and a good Coleman furnace.

Some of my curtains are freecycle "gifts."  The furnishings are hand-me-downs, dumpster dives, second-hand and garage sale items.  I made the livingroom curtains, but the fabric came from the thrift store on rolls totaling 15 yards for which I paid a whole $10 and it is Waverly.  Many of my throw rugs are from the thrift store.  My curtain rods are used too.  I love it!  It is so kitchy and comfortable.  It has a certain fussiness and elegance, but it is too inviting to get caught up in that.

It has been the project of a lifetime, the way it has turned out and the money spent on it.  It is my third house to fix up, first mobile home.  Now, to paint the outside and do the landscaping to include a huge garden.

I make clothing too, but that was my last career and I won't count that.

wow dragonfly, youre awesome.. i totally want an awesome motorhome some day.. my husband likes to move around alot and that would be a perfect answer hehe..

but about all my sewing/clothing projects.. i think it is sorta cheating, cuz i went to fashion design school hehe.. but my bike was all home learned.. next up  i am going to take a bike building/welding class in oregon.. so i will have a completely built from scratch bicycle :D..

one other thing is, i also have a pair of pants that have patches all over them.. the pants and the skirt i made are covered in hand made patches.. my husband is super good at stencils hehe !

I'm stealing that for my facebook quote!!!  Did that come from a book/website or did you come up with that one yourself -- I'd like to give you proper credit if it's yours  ;)b

I get into crafty phases - usually jewellry making phases. I have a lot of beads and string etc. left over from one of those said phases... and I made some pretty neat stuff.

but I'm not that skilled - it doesn't take a lot of talent to string a few beads and tie some knots.

I just threw away two innertubes (ran over thorns two summers ago) after saving them with the plan to do _something_ with them...oh well...

it was from a sticker that got etched in my brain, series of events and a good friend... that I don't see all so often.
