Apple Variety.

I'm a huge apple fan.
I love Pink Ladys and Granny Smiths.  And like just about the rest.  But I dislike Golden Delicious and Red Delicious as bit.
I've just recently discovered the world outside the four 'basics'

What do you enjoy (and particularly not)

I love Pink Lady's and some other one....begins with an H and the second word is Crisp. H...Crisp something. Don't care for any others.

Mmmm, Pink Ladeez, mai favourite. Best eaten freshly picked from the Blue Mountains growers outside Sydney. Or in the cute little pies they make. :)>>>

Empire and Royal Gala. But really, any local and crispy apple is wonderful.

I love red and golden delicious!  Might just be because I'm from MI and when we'd go to pick apples they were biggest crop.

I love galas and ginger golds.

Hmmm... I like Kings, Braeburns and Fujis.  I am not a big fan of the Delicious varieties.  I like my apples crisp and a little tart.

Granny Smiths are the best!! Love them on their own and in waldorf-type salads.

Braeburn!

Actually, yeah, a real ripe fresh Granny is wonderful... but this is true of almost any apple... it's only when they're artificially ripened for the supermarkets, they just blow. ::)

Is it just me, or does a good Braeburn taste a bit like pineapple as well as apple?

Pink Ladies are my favorite, but they are usually too expensive.  I pretty much like all apples, so I buy whatever is cheapest or local.  I had some really good Rome apples last week, and before that I had Mutzu.  I had never heard of those before.  They were almost too sweet...not gross, but I don't think I will buy them again.

Wow, there's some apples on here I've never heard of.  I'd love to try them... might have to start scouting.

Honeycrisps are awesome!  But their season is so short.  They are no longer at WFs and I am sad  :'(

But I also like Fujis and Braeburns when Honeycrisps aren't in season.  I only like organic galas when they are cheaper than the fujis and braeburns (conv. galas are way too soft for my tastes).  And I only like granny smiths in pies/other apple desserts.  Too tart for eating, in my opinion.

Go Fujis! (we should make a poll!)

The finest apple in the world is the British Cox. Absolutely delicious.

There is a type of apple that isn't suitable for vegans, does anybody know what it is called? I can't remember.

WTF?  How can an apple not be vegan?  Adam's Apple?
