You are here

Five interesting things people don't know about you.

Go!

1.  I collect mugs, miniature books, and state quarters.
2.  I have this idea in my head for a cafe with these mini cake desserts.  (But not cupcakes; it's different.)  I came up with it freshman year.  I even have some sketches of it in my sketchbook.  Top secret stuff.
3.  I was born with cerebral palsy because the umbilical cord got wrapped around my neck, but it's very very mild.  Many people with CP have trouble walking or speaking, but mine only left me with a very slight limp in my right foot and some random difficulties playing the violin.  No one notices unless I tell them, that's how minor it is.  I was pretty lucky.
4.  I really love corsets.  Love 'em.  But I don't own one yet.  Call me anti-feminist.  Sorry, ok!
5.  I am good at spelling.  I went all the way to the local televised bee (NOT the big one, the Syracuse one) in eight grade, and it was pretty fly.  Now I love crosswords.  I credit my grandfather, who used to write crossword puzzles.  :)

1)  It really angers me when people dis on the military.  I know most people are referring to the 'administration' of it, but I still take it personally.  It takes all I have to ignore the person and not respond by verbally attacking them or smacking the shit out of them.

2)  I've had elective cosmetic surgery....and would do it again.  I believe in everyone's choice to do this and am annoyed when people assume you have to be a completely self-absorbed vapid nitwit to partake in it.

3)  Is in awe (and slightly intimidated) by some of the people's knowledge on this board.  Part of the reason I don't post as much as..well,  just about everybody, is that I don't see the need to incessantly agree with something that someone already said.

4)  I want a kid (or kids) but am completely terrified that I will damage them worse than my parents damaged me.  I've spent periods of time (think years here people) not talking to either one before I realized that that was causing more hurt to me than it was to them.

5)  I am probably one of the most forgetful people I know...or, wait!  Was that someone else I know?! ::) I have a planner that doesn't leave my side because I have to write everything down and if I set it down I'll lose the damn thing and thus be totally screwed.

Okay, I'll bite. Especially since Estefania did. You've inspired me!

1) When I was 15 I had sex with a guy that didn't care about me because I thought we were going to get married and live happily ever after. Shortly after, a male friend I had known and been close to since I was a very small child found out that I'd had sex. He made me feel horribly guilty by saying he always thought he would be my first, and he forced me to have sex with him, because it shouldn't matter since I'd done it already.

I've been through several destructive relationships since then, one lasted 3 years, I was physically abused, and I got engaged to the guy. Another lasted 4 years and I allowed myself to be emotionally abused for the entire thing. I felt like I deserved punishment for some terrible wrong I'd done. It's still hard to get past my own guilt.

2) Some days I really think my boyfriend deserves someone less emotionally bruised. But I thank God every day that Josh doesn't care about the struggles.

3) I care about things but I deny caring about them. I try to put up a tough-girl front, but I'm very sensitive and easily hurt.

4) I have tons of patience, but when I am finished with something or someone, that's it. There's no grace period. I get very bitchy and drive everyone off if I feel trapped in a situation I don't want to be in.

5) I procrastinate like you wouldn't believe. Once I actually bite the bullet and do whatever I have to, I'm fine. But give me the chance to put it off and I will. I'm working on that.

:)

Wow I dont know what to say other than your #1 is a horrible thing that happened to you.  No one deserves that.  I could tell you that it's not your fault (and it's not) and that you should not feel guilty, but that would be hypocritical of me, since I also felt guilty.  I am glad you have a boyfriend who is there for you. *Sending you positive vibes*

Me too... I have to work on 'doing things now' instead of later sometimes too  :)

Hey, I could say the same thing to you!  ;D

The past couple of years have been a steady road to feeling a lot better about myself and my life. I'm starting to look into volunteering in the community, because I think that would be a great self-esteem booster. Maybe that sounds selfish, but I don't have money for a therapist.

:P

I know I felt a whole new kind of inner-good when we adopted our cat from a shelter. So, I'm just pushing forward and trying to incorporate things that make me feel awesome about myself and my decisions. I hope everything is going well for you, too!

Oh no I have been away from this site too long and am going to be up all night reading this thread! Just five, eh? Lets see:

1. I have seven children. The oldest is 38 and the youngest is 7.
2. I was arrested hiding in a secret compartment in a camperized van ( not secret enough I guess) crossing the border into Canada. Long story.
3. I have hitchiked over 100,000 miles in my life, so far.
4. I once lived on The Farm commune in Tennessee
5. I am having a hard time deciding which one to end with. I lived under an alias for four years once.

4. I once lived on The Farm commune in Tennessee

Sweet!  How was it?  Different from how we all idealize it being?

I did it. I read all the way through this thread and all I can say is WOW! i don't even know how to describe the feelings I have right now. It is like I have experienced all the pain you all have gone through.I want to cry with you hug you and pray for you which I will.

The idea was great but the reality was different. Their was a lot of mind control, and pressure to fit in and accept the decisions of the leaders. There were also a lot of people who wanted to leave but had either given all their posessions to the commune or were totally disowned by their families and didn't know where to go. I had not given everything to the group and had property to return to. It surely was one of the greatest disappointments of my life and I didn't stay long.

There was so much I left out trying to keep it to five. Yes I have lots of stories to tell. I am still trying to recover from everyone else's sharing. There is sure lots of pain out there.

3) I've been engaged twice, but never married
4) I have been chased/stalked/hacked/phone bugged by people who believe they're vampires....

#1: Iz a poet. I write poetry occasionally. I could put that in the past tense, because the muses haven't tapped me on the shoulder since, like, foreverrrr... but I can't imagine living the rest of my life without ever finding inspiration, so... Iz a poet.

#2: I have a great reverence for life, the earth, and its spirits, souls, energies and so forth. I'm a non-practising witch or pagan. When I pray, I pray to the goddess. It's not that I believe the life spirit is only female - it's both genders if anything, like most manifestations of life on Earth - I just feel most comfortable addressing it as such.

#3: It's quite possible that you already know this, if you've noticed my posts on certain threads... I'm a 26 year old virgin, and I've never been on a date or given/received a kiss. I guess this must be important to me (or I wouldn't be thinking of mentioning it here), but I'm not sure how. I'm not anti-sex in general, but I dunno, I don't feel it's something I want or need. At least for now.

#4: I've had, and refused, a marriage proposal. But it's toooootally not what/why you'd think. ::)

#5: I feel like nothing much has happened in my life... no childhood trauma, no major injuries/illnesses, no bad relationships, no nothing... and sometimes I wonder if anything ever will happen to me.
