You are here

Five interesting things people don't know about you.

Go!

1.  I collect mugs, miniature books, and state quarters.
2.  I have this idea in my head for a cafe with these mini cake desserts.  (But not cupcakes; it's different.)  I came up with it freshman year.  I even have some sketches of it in my sketchbook.  Top secret stuff.
3.  I was born with cerebral palsy because the umbilical cord got wrapped around my neck, but it's very very mild.  Many people with CP have trouble walking or speaking, but mine only left me with a very slight limp in my right foot and some random difficulties playing the violin.  No one notices unless I tell them, that's how minor it is.  I was pretty lucky.
4.  I really love corsets.  Love 'em.  But I don't own one yet.  Call me anti-feminist.  Sorry, ok!
5.  I am good at spelling.  I went all the way to the local televised bee (NOT the big one, the Syracuse one) in eight grade, and it was pretty fly.  Now I love crosswords.  I credit my grandfather, who used to write crossword puzzles.  :)

That's a great picture. It makes me so nostalgic!  :)>>>

Well, in my opinion, vegans smell sweeter, more like a bruised herb, and omni's smell a little more sharper, especially if they eat cheese or dairy regularly, then they smell a little sour.  Omni's that eat a lot of meat, but not too much dairy smell musky.
The best part for me is when a vegan woman sweats, or their body odor is noticeable because they don't use deodorant...  Delicious!  :D

Camillus, can you please move to SC?   :)>>>

I'd love to!  :)

Man, usually when I tell people about my habit of smelling things, they get freaked out!  Vegwebbers are so effin' cool!

I always tell my friends "I like the way I smell when I stink."  Ha.  It really freaks people out.  :D

You know whats weird... I just saw Twilight (the movie) for the first time about ten minutes ago, and all I could keep thinking about was that that family was just a bunch of cool vegans.  Btw, I bet you smell fantastic Lotus.  Er, and that's not a pun - your name is just proper (with a PROPA!)

speaking of vegan smells, i found this study where they actually tested the sweat of vegetarian men vs non-vegetarian (women judged the smell of the sweat by its pleasant-ness, masculinity, and some other categories). vegetarian won on all accounts, if i recall correctly  :-D

1. I started posting on internet message boards or forums when I was 13 years old and have been ever since.

2. I am completely fascinated with literature from different cultures, I took so many multicultural classes in college that I accumilated way over the normal amount of multi cultural credits. I might as well have a concentration in multicultural studies.

3. I am done with my BA in English, but I do not have a diploma because I still have not finished my German minor. And I really do not care if I ever get my diploma because I am so ready to get on with my life after this semester abroad. I know it should be a bad thing, but my future plans at this point do not involve needing a diploma.

4. I have never been in love, and I have always been terrified of getting too emotionally close. I also never met the right guy and so I spent time compiling lists of character traits to explain why I was not interested in the guys everyone thought I should be interested in. One month ago I met the guy that freakishly met every single point on my list, in two months he leaves for China for a year...

5. When I get upset I drink and get extremely reckless, the year after my uncle died, I was 16, I drank every single night of the week for half a year until I wrecked my car. My freshman year in college my parents randomly sprung their divorce on me, I got alcohol poisoning and no one took me to the hospital. I just found out that my Opa is in the hospital severely sick and will most likely not live longer than 6 months, I went from having no alcohol in my apartment to having two sortiments...I am scared that I will just sink into the whole destructive cycle again.

1. I paint stuff when I am bored. I have painted my tv orange, my son's computer red and yellow (I even painted his keyboard with all the letters and everything!) and my light bulbs many different colors.

2. I dropped out of school in the 8th grade. I am going to college now and I feel like a kid doing it. I am having a second childhood:)

3. I married my husband 5 weeks after I met him. We never fight.

4. I don't know how old I am. I was born on the side of the I-5 while my mother was stoned on LSD - so I know it was the 60's.

5. I used to lie constantly for no good reason and to cure myself I had to stop and say "I am sorry, I just lied to you and I don't know why. I did not really climb Mt Hood (or whatever). It was really embarrassing but had to be done.

Storm, have I ever told You that I think You are.... how do I put this? ...hauntingly beautiful? I think it's Your eyes especially... but Your current avatar is just...wow.

CW, that may be the nicest thing anyone has ever said about me.  I am speechless.

I posted five things way back but since I'm bored, here are five more little things that people don't know about me:

1. I wear Hello Kitty and Happy Bunny knickers.
2. I am an excellent seamstress and made all of my homecoming and prom dresses in high school.
3. I never paint all of my toenails the same color....it's boring.
4. I've donated almost 6 gallons of blood in my lifetime but can't anymore because of my arthritis meds. :(
5. I'm a techno-phobe and can't even download music onto my own iPod....I have to have my daughter do it. :-[

1. I was abandoned as an infant in Seoul and left on the steps of city hall. Thank goodness for my wonderful parents in Iowa who adopted me at 6 months old. I consider them my 'true' family and am thankful for them each and everyday.
2. I am obsessed with peanut butter and eat it straight from the jar.
3. I am VERY scared of earthworms and hate walking outside in the rain if they're in the driveway.
4. I can't swim....not out of fear, but more so out of my mom's fear..she's scared of water, so she never enrolled me in swimming classes. This might be interesting as I am going on my first Bahamas cruise in September. Hopefully there's more to do aside from swimming with dolphins and snorkeling!
5. I used to HATE any form of physical activity as a kid/teen and would do anything to get out of gym class...now, I am a fitness nut and love to walk/run/bike, anything!

Whew...I just read this entire thread...

..and so did I. And so now, even though I really don't feel like I have anything so amazing as many of your stories to add, it doesn't feel right to have read all those things without putting a little bit out there myself, so here goes.

* I'm pretty sure I had a drinking problem a few years back, but chose not to see it, and now I have gone almost completely off the idea of drinking and it annoys my husband because he thinks I don't want to have fun with him anymore, but I think I just got 'over' it... I still love red wine, and cold beer on a hot afternoon - but I'm quite fine with just having one for the taste, I don't need to finish the bottle/box anymore.

* I've always said I don't want to have children , but I'm fairly sure I've changed my mind, but am also so scared of the idea that I can't say it out loud even to myself or my husband.

* I'm a massive bogan/metalhead, nothing better than tremendously fast double-kick, deathly vocal growls, insanely long technical guitar solos and a wardrobe of nothing but black band shirts.  My mum can't deal with it, she still has this image of me when I was about 15 and was a 'good little girl' and she seems sure that's the real me.  I hope some day she'll learn to accept that I've just grown up /moved on.

* I have had some self esteem/self image issues, thought I was doing pretty well feeling good about myself, then just this week I found an old photo of me at my skinniest and instead of being pleased with where I am now, I started feeling jealous.  I want to like my body, but I can't. I'm terrified that the 'fat genes' evident in other members of my family are going to sneak up on me and 'get' me and there's not going to be anything I can do about it, even though I actually eat really well and exercise heaps. No one ever said women thought rationally about their bodies, right?

* I often feel like a failure because I spent five years at law school but have absolutely no desire to be a lawyer.  I feel like more of a failure because about the only thing I really have a desire to do is stay home and cook for my family.  I honestly think I was born 30 years too late.

Wow, gabri and iowachick! Those are very interesting birth stories!

Gabri, do you have a birth certificate?

I do  but it was a HUGE deal to get it. I had to have all of these family members and friends sign affidavits and in the end I have a ssn that has my birthdate as one year and my birth certificate has another year. It causes sooooo much trouble.

Whoa! That's incredible. I'm sorry that it causes trouble; I can imagine. Quite a story, though.

It was ok in the end. It makes me interesting heh heh. It seems like this big thing but in other countries people very often don't have birth recordsd, milllion of them.

Hey I have been to Montana once. I was like 16 and traveling around and I totally sent my parents a Jackalope postcard because I thought they were real animals. Montana is so beautiful, it stands out very clearly in my memory.

I can relate..I don't have a real 'birthdate' either...the orphanage assumed I was a month old when they found me, so I was given December 29 as my Bday. It kinda sucks having it so close to Christmas and NYE...I might have to change it to January-something! haha
