Question about trees!

Help! I have a work problem. Long story short, I need to figure out what kind of tree this leaf is from. It looks like a Trembling Aspen, but its from New Jersey, near the shore, so obviously this isn't right. Can someone just take a guess as to what it could be? I wish I could send you a picture. I'm thinking its some sort of Poplar, but I have no clue which one.

Basically it loks just like this, but only 2 inches big.

I was a botany major until I took plant tax and was so scarred by the experience that I changed majors.

You basically learn to identify monocots and dicots.  For 90% of the class it was a fun, easy A.  For me, it was a grueling, soul-sucking experience.  You have a 90% chance of loving the class, though.
