Reasons to whine

I feel like "reasons to frown" is for more serious business, and "grind your gears" is for genuine, deserved anger.

This is for whining, especially about petty things. Complaints, bitching and moaning welcome.

My reasons to whine:

I'm back in school starting today, and it's a sort of orientation week. As usual, it's pretty pointless. I could be sleeping!

My sheese has a spot of mold on it! I opened it a couple days ago, and it's best by date is Aug 5. >:( (I cut that part off, and am now enjoying some sheese)

Peta said so.  I went for it.

I like to air out the house on my days off. Evidently 'tis the season where I can't do this without a bunch of noisy house-flies invading. I don't know how to get them outtttt.

Don't thee knock it till thee try it. I just ate a bowl of oatmeal with a spoonful of crunchy PB and a dash of cinnamon. No other sweetening needed. It was lush.

It sounds so simple, and yet I have not tried this. Hmmm. Next time I stock up on oats, I shall.

I'm kind of Scottish about my oatmeal. I like it sweet sometimes, and others I crave it savoury. The Scots always ate it with butter and salt, no milk or sugar.
Other times I want:
Raisins or other dried fruit (craisins are fantastic!)
Sliced bananas
Cocoa powder, panela, and cinnamon
Tahineh and/or miso (thank you, Wayneshep!)
PB and J, or plain PB.
Fruit preserves (the kind with pieces of fruit in the jam). Blueberry preserves on hot oatmeal are just completely other.

I like making oatmeal into desserts (but for breakfast):
gingerbread (molasses, cinnamon, and ginger)
sticky date pudding (chopped dates, golden syrup or brown sugar)
apple crumble (applesauce, cinnamon, raisins, brown sugar)
peanut butter cookie (peanut butter, brown sugar, raisins)
oatmeal cookie (raisins, brown sugar, cinnamon)
not a dessert, but I also like adding craisins and maple syrup.

Yum! Oatmeal. Now I'm hungry. I like mine with cinnamon and brown sugar/maple syrup. Or cinnamon and raisins. I prefer the ground grain hot cereal sweet or savory. I can't imagine savory oatmeal.

I really came in here to complain though. I finally got the motivation to get some work done and now I'm too sleepy to finish. So now I have to get up early and knock it out.

Oh well, that's what I get for procrastinating. I'm too enamored of my sleep to stay up really late at night just to get my class work done. Those days are over (I say that now, but I'll probably be pulling all nighters left and right once I have to start turning in my final papers at the end of the semester  ::) ).

I like savory oatmeal (like caramelized onions, spinach, dash of bragg's) but tahini and miso??? You've gone off the deep end my dearest.

sorry fufu, I can imagine tahini and miso being good with porridge (refuse to call it oatmeal...although not sure it's actually the same thing), but not onions and spinach and braggs.

fufu, you have inspired me. Some day I'm gonna make Oat Hummus. Substitute cooked oatmeal for the chickpeas and see what comes out.

both of you

It was windy here today, too.  It was really windy a couple of weeks ago and I had super bad congestion and allergies.  I couldn't lay down and only got two to three hours of sleep a night for about five nights because when I'd fall asleep I'd shift from my half sitting position and wake up.  I suppose llg already only gets a few hours of sleep, or is the G man sleeping more now?

It has not been particularly windy lately.  They started right before I left for DC, continued there and have stuck around since being back in Texas.  I'm sneezing a lot and have very itchy, dry eyes.  I might have to take something which I hate doing while breastfeeding.

For the past 4 nights Gavin has been sleeping so much better!!  I don't know if it was a natural progression or if it's the sequence of things that (we) have changed.  I'm talking 10-12 hours starting between 6-7pm.
