for anyone that's interested, there is a vegan get together almost every month on meetup.com - they usually get together at restaurants or pot lucks, etc.  I've been a few times but i have a hard time because i don't know anyone and it's hard for me to feel comfortable w/o at least knowing someone to some degree first...
