Comment following the article from Tom from England"
"So what are there not worse things happening, ive played the game and i dont feel anyway inlined to commit violent acts. God of war is a franchise that always receives critism, and in my opinion thats a nice marketing scheme by sony. At the end of the day, we eat meat everyday of our lives why dont we complain about that? You can bet money on it some of them are slaughtered in inhuman ways anyway."

Um... sure... he doesn't sound affected by the games at all... um... yeah...

I don't know what's more disturbing--the goat slaughter or the fact that kids responded in praise for it's "coolness".

Agree.
Current Cultures have trained kids have really sick ideas/standards.
I find teens these days to be really a disturbing breed in general.

Edit: I've been reading a lot about this potentially being a hoax: http://message.snopes.com/showthread.php?p=154149

I sure hope so.  I might have faith in humanity again...

"if it was good enough for the greeks and romans it's good enough for me. This world has become far too ethically conscious and politically correct for my liking." First quote on there..

Thats the scariest thing I've seen even if the publicity stunt was fake.. Looked like a dead goat to me, even if it wasnt really Sony who did it, still looks like they killed an animal..  :'( All of those deaths are unnecessary but at least slaughtered animals are usually eaten.. This poor goat was just mocked and made into a stunt.. Horrible.

Cant believe some of the reactions though.. Too ethically conscious?!?! I agree that the politcally correct rampage can get a bit out of hand when people have obvious double standards... But can we ever be too ethical?? How ridiculous.. There they go again, using past crimes to justify present ones.. Why dont we go ahead and make slavery legal again and take the right to vote away from women and nations' minorities.. Start holding massacres when there is dissent among a nation.. As if the Romans are the epitome of good judgement!  >:(

Sometimes I think the majority of humans are devolving (if that is even a word).

Janeyboo, "Devolving" is indeed a word, it means "to return to the primitive or original condition." As politics has highjacked the word "devolution" to mean returning rule to the people, it loses the impact of returning to a primitive state.
A friend of mine (Cambridge logic professor) also used to speak of "involution" in regards to humans--turning in on themselves and thereby getting worse. He applied it to the mememe attitude, what pleases me is what is good, etc. What I call "free to be like me". --anna rabbit, girl etymologist

SONY is responsible?!?  :D  :D  :D

If so, That's another slap to their name here.
One of their employees was just all over the news... 2 weeks ago for torturing and killing 2-3 dozen small animals.
The )(*^*&%  posted video of himself brutilizing a ferret on youtube,  and some people recognized something in the video and sent notice to the cops in that area.

Of course he got off with a slap on the wrist, but it's really bad PR for SONY.  As far as I'm concerned, SONY deserves it.

Not sure if this is true..."Faux News" does tend to publish and report many stories without first checking the facts....very sad if this is true.

If it IS true....
I do own a lot of Sony products....reading this article makes me want to boycott them. What were they thinking?!  >:(

Thanks yabbitgirl  ::) I thought so, but now I feel like a big dork. I hadn't heard of the term "involution" before but it makes perfect sense.

Yogaferret, I can't BELIEVE someone got off with hardly a slap on the wrist for killing over 2 dozen animals! Don't people pay attention in Psych 101? Most of our society's worst tortured non-human animals before moving on to humans. Just goes to show that if people don't even care about themselves or other humans, we can't really expect them to show compassion for other species. Its easy to be self-absorbed, but not so easy to actually treat your own body with respect, let alone treating other people/species with any.

After all, they're only 'animals' and it was only his 'first offense'.
Yeah, pretty disgusting.
I'm sure he would be looking at execution if it was 2-3 dozen HUMANS.  >:( >:( >:( >:(
It makes me so mad that animals are considered so disposible and human are some how so  'irreplacable'.
I think it's some sort of arrogant god-complex.

Animal lovers here are consoling themselves with the fact that because SONY's name and his face was all over the news, it's a hard hit for their reputation.

Appalling.
This is disgusting marketing for a publicity stunt and it's hard to believe it happened because it's so vile.
Ugh.

Well, I really couldn't believe this story.  It was only reported by one paper--all other stories were sourced from that article.  And I didn't want to think that someone would actually think the goat was a good idea.  I try and try to believe that people are good.  I searched the web everywhere, but couldn't find anything at all separate from the Daily Mail article, and no statement from Sony on their website.

So I did what any vegwebber would do: I called Sony.  And, dammit, they confirmed that the story is true.  Something inside of me still wants to believe nobody would actually do this.  But if the story is false, then Sony claiming it was true would just be a way to get sick publicity.  Either way, it stinks.  So no Sony purchases for me.

Also very disturbing that they advertise it as more brutal than ever before--and great fun, to boot!
Charming. I pitched them a stinging comment on the website but you can bet it will get "lost" in cyberspace.
