You have been away for a while, haven't you? KFC, Taco Bell, and Pizza Hut are all owned by the same company, and it is very common now to see combination stores.
I love Taco Bell (good vegan menu options)- I hate the fried chicken being in the same building. In addition to my veg*n feelings on the matter, I got violently ill as a child from inhaling huge quantities of fried chicken (you know, eating too much and failing to chew) and I am unable to bear the smell or sight of the stuff!

Yup it's been about 16 yrs since I was Stateside for longer than about a week, and 11 yrs since the last time I was there. Still--the combination! It's like yelling "Get your arteries clogged here! Step right up and get your full quota of harmful chemicals, hormones and fatal diet choices--right here in one handy location! Look no further folks, for your ticket on the Grim Reaper Express!" ;D Except...it's really not that funny... :'( Aw, heck with it, it's Friday.... :D :D

Wow - that is a long time. The longest I've ever been gone is 3 1/2 years - and I couldn't believe how much had changed then. Reverse culture shock is nasty!
Altho, I think the food supply for the whole country may be run by the grim reaper. I think when you return you'll be stunned at how severe the problems have become - how many people look like "heart attacks going somewhere to happen" It is getting increasingly difficult to find anything fresh and healthy in a restaurant - especially if you're away from big cities and coastal areas.
Europe has some of our problems, but, as Americans are so fond of saying "We're number #1" (in a very, very bad way :-\). I'd rather be loosing this particular contest.
