That made me want to google and try to find something without palm oil, when I stumbled upon this:
http://vegansofcolor.wordpress.com/2008/06/21/the-real-cost-of-earth-balance/
And I haven't read the whole thing yet, so don't kill me if it isn't all that great. I'll edit accordingly.
eta: best suggestion on that blog is coconut oil (which one poster links to an article on at: http://lagustasluscious.com/coconut.html, scroll down)
It seems like Hopfrog may have mentioned this some time ago? I have been trying to avoid Earth Balance, instead opting for oils (or going fat free) wherever possible.
I was not aware of this, but I don't use EB much, or any buttery spread really, which is nice. I know PPC bakes and cooks a lot, though, and I don't very much. I can usually sub stuff out, or the things I do make don't call for EB.
yeah i really only use it for baking.. i use other oils for regular cooking. damn eb for being so buttery tasting!
Whoa....that sucks....Is nothing safe and cruelty-free and worthy of enjoyment? :-[
That's awful =(
I only use EB on mashed potatoes, since it's high in fat anyway, but looks like I should find something else to put on them. Although it appears that the biggest problem is people wanting palm oil as a fuel, not necessarily the amount that has been produced for food. Why are people so greedy?
how sad!

Roasted garlic and unsweetened non-dairy milk. ;)b
I need to keep both you and PPC in my pocket for quick reference. You are both so knowledgeable.

Pocket PPC! I'd buy one.

I have one! It's PPC via text messaging. Not quite the real thing, but as close as I'll get.
haha can we at least be in separate pockets? 2 in one pocket would be kinda crowded & i dont want mdv thinking that im starting any funny business.

That might get messy in my pocket and you might eat pocket lint accidentally. Can I feed it to you in pieces, in some sort of wrapper?
this is suddenly a very bizarre thread & picture in my imagination. i like it.
haha sure i suppose you can do that..
(and yes this thread turned very odd)
ack! thanks mdv! i shoulda knows she would do something like that and then keep the monte cristo for herself...
tsk tsk meggs..
Lol. AC made it up, I swear. I cooked and she made it into something ugly!
No more cooking for me! Back to pre-packaged, pre-made meals! Those didn't get me in ANY trouble!
Monte cristos... I'm buying! :-*

This is why we need to learn how to read the English language properly. The comma(s) did not signify a list.
