I made these for breakfast this morning and I *pretty much* followed the original recipe.  I added a little extra vanilla extract, a drop of almond extract, and 1/2 tsp baking powder.  I made them the night before and put the batter in the fridge overnight.  The batter was definitely thick enough (I did use quick oats so maybe that makes a difference??)  The waffles didn't come out as crisp as I usually like, even after cooking 4-5 minutes...however, they were very tasty and my husband raved about them!  I like how they remained soft inside, but I think I'll add a little more baking powder next time, maybe 1 tsp.  I definitely recommend trying these!!

These have come out great both times that I've made them..I used all soy milk this time, added a little flour for a thicker consistency, and added cinnamon. Great, FAST waffle recipe!  ;)b

ive never made waffles before but i have been looking for a very basic waffle recipe and this looks perfect. im curious though, is there much of a difference with subbing applesauce for the banana? (or pumpkin puree for pumpkin waffles) will the flavors of banana/apple/pumpkin really "make" all of the difference in the taste of the waffles? thanks!

My family liked these a lot.  They were easy, inexpensive to make, and tasted good.  I also added 1/2 cup of 6-grain flour to make it thicker.  It made 3 1/2 belgian waffles.  Good with peanut butter on top.

We liked sum up everyone's reviews: I did 1 c water and 1 c soy milk, added in some flour, cinnamon, baking powder, and a little more sugar. I let the batter set while I was heating my waffle maker. It was my first time to use I wasn't quite sure about it. I sprayed it with oil..and overfilled the first batch. I had an issue with my waffles coming out in half..they seemed to get done enough..but each half (on each side of the waffle maker) was separate. It got better as it made maybe it was just a first use thing. Did anyone else have this happen? I thought they cooked fairly quickly. I made exactly 4 waffles (but probably would have been at least 5 w/o the overfilling). The taste was good, and they were pretty crispy! : )

:D I love these waffles!! I'm able to make 7 waffles with my waffle maker and I actually use quick oats. I also sub canned pumpkin for banana and it comes out great!!!  :o

These are amazing! They are perfectly crispy outside and fluffy inside.  I will never make "regular" waffles again.  I did make a bunch of changes.  I added a handful of spelt flour, half cup of walnuts, ground up flaxseeds, hemp seeds, sunflower seeds, one apple, and a bit of oil. I used rice milk instead of water.  I didn't add the banana.

This morning I decided to bake these.. why? because I'm really bad at cooking pancakes. The batter always tasted like cake mix (not that I wanted it to turn out like cake), which inspired me. So, made the recipe like normal plus added baking powder, more molasses, cinnamon and some mixed berries. Put it in the oven at 350 for about half an hour, in a greased and floured tin. It was good! Just an easier way to have pancakes in the morning, if you're like me and have a messy time frying them. It turned out like if you were to put the whole batter in the pan and actually make it successfully (because I never did before lol.. had problems flipping them over). This recipe is v good because of its simplicity, versatility and healthiness! Sorry author for deviating so much from the original method...

:D I cooked this just as listed mine were not runny, but added a handful of blackberries.  It is delicious, I have them almost every morning and they are wonderful!
