Vegan Thanxgiving Roast

What you need: 

Dry Ingredients:
Essentials:
1 1/2 cup vital wheat gluten
1/4 cup nutritional yeast
Semi-Essentials:
1/4 cup ground flax seed
Suggested Dry Seasoning:
1/2 ts parsley
1/2 ts sage
1/2 ts thyme
1/2 ts garlic (or garlic powder)
1/2 ts onion powder
1/2 ts fennel (optional)
1/2 ts rosemary (optional)
1/2 ts red pepper flakes (or chili powder) (optional)
couple of shakes of black pepper

Wet Ingredients:
1/4 lb Firm Tofu (drained)
1/2 cup white beans (actually any bean will do) cooked
1 tbs oil
2 tbs soy sauce (Braggs preferred)
1 cup broth

Optional:
Stuffing (prepared)

What you do: 

 

 

Directions:
Mix seasonings and wet ingredients in a blender/food processor or with potato masher.
In a mixing bowl mix dry ingredients with the above.
Knead for a few minutes (roughly 5)

Without Stuffing:
Wrap loaf in foil.

With Stuffing:
Cut loaf in half and flatten out peaces with a rolling pin.
Spread 1 cup of stuffing on one loaf, then cover with other.
Knead the sides together as best you can.
Wrap entire loaf in foil.

Roast in then ready to be baked or prepared as one would a store bought equivolent (as if thawed).

Steam for about 40 minutes.

SO HOW'D IT GO?

This is super!!! I made it before Thanksgiving to see if we would like it and the family LOVED it. So I made it again for Thanksgiving and will make it for Christmas, too!  I modified a bit, I used 2 teaspoons of sage, thyme, garlic and onion powder and next time will probably use 3 teaspoons of them and the parsley. I added 1/4 teaspoon liquid smoke and will probably add 1 full teaspoon next time. I made it with the stuffing and it was easy to do. It has a nice presentation on the plate. It goes great with some vegan brown gravy. It easily served a family of 4. I highly recommend this recipe!
