Football Food!

Unless your an Indianapolis fan or a New Orleans fan, then tomorrow starts the beginning of the professional football season.  And no other sport is associated with food as much as football as tail-gatings are a must (well at least here in Pittsburgh!).  What is everyone's favorite food to eat while watching the game?  Mine is pizza.  Does anyone know any tried and true pizza recipes involving soy cheese?

Go Steelers!  ;D

I kept full on all of my tears from that Saints game

I casually watch the NFL, but in the fall, I live and breathe by South Carolina Gamecock football!!!

Last night, as I soooo happily watched them beat the hated Georgia Bulldogs, I ate the following....

Aussie TVP Burger (from this site) crumbled on a wrap
Fire Roasted Tomato Triscuits (these really are the devil)
Oatmeal Cookies ("One Special Oatmeal Cookie" from this site)
Cape Cod Salt and Vinegar Chips
Beer

Yes.  I know that is a lot of food.  But hey, it's Gamecock footbal!!!

GO COCKS!!!!    :D

Woo! Another Steelers fan!  ;D ;D ;D

As for football food, we made a pizza last night after the game. Pilsbury dough, sauce, green pepper, mushrooms, black olives, pine nuts, Yves Pepperoni (or "fakeroni" as we call it), a sprinkling of onion and garlic powders, Italian herb seasoning and a little Tony Chachere's.

Also, Gardenburger makes some surprisingly good wings.

(How sad was it that 5 minutes into the first quarter, Browns fans were chanting, "Bra-dy, Bra-dy..."

Hey Lotus42, I am a Gamecock fan also. Graduated fron USC and try to keep up with how they are doing. Sometimes I wear garnet and black to show my support up in the North land(massachusetts). I am hoping to bring my kids to a game this fall but I don't know if that wil work. I would love to see Columbia and have my kids see the school.

Awesome!  When did you graduate?  If you come to visit, you won't believe how much the campus has changed (even since I graduated in 2002)!!!  They tore down the "Honeycombs" this year!!! That was kinda sad.  The horseshoe is still the same as always, though.  Let me know if you come to visit.  Maybe we could meet up.  There is a great little vegan restaurant not too far from campus.  Go Cocks!

Lotus, I graduated in 1990 and have not been back since, so I bet I would be shocked with how much it has changed. i loved it there though and I lived in the Towers for 2 years. I can understand why they tore them down. I wonder if my old stomping grounds are still there, Goodfellows, greenstreets(hootie and the blowfish played there), Rockafellas and group therapy. I will definately let you know if we make the trek down, now the more I think of it the more I want to go back!!!!

I'm orgianlly from there, and yeah... it's crazy. I think only Texas has the region beat.

For those not in the know, a Steelers Quarterback injury would probably eclipse any other news story. Friday nights there is wall to wall coverage of high school foot ball games. With analysis, interviews, etc.

When I came to central Ohio, people told me to brace myself for OSU football madness... it's not even close to the religion of football in PA.

majicka, do you know if they still send all of the news helicopters to the games out there?

Haha.  Yeah, I lived in the Towers too.  Group Therapy is still kickin.  Was Rockafellas in 5 points?  It sounds familiar.  Greenstreets is gone though.  Jungle Jims is still around, so is Village Idiot and Pavlov's(I think they were around in 1990).  Anyway, just some reminiscing... ::)  I don't go out to those places much myself, anymore.

You know... No matter how hard I try, I have never been able to actually understand how the heck football is scored. (Please don't think I'm dumb... ;D I get how each touchdown gives the team points, etc. But I guess I never know why the players start from a specific part of the field... It's always changing & I just don't get how that's all figured out.)

AAAAANYWAY, that being said, I love football season! No, I don't get what the hell is going on with the actual game, but I think it's so fun to hang out with friends/family on a cozy fall evening... Sit by the TV with some awesome food (nachos! popcorn! beer!) & a fire. Yay! I love fall! :D
