Fresh Cranberry Sorbet

I just ran across a recipe for Fresh Cranberry Sorbet that sounds/looks really delicious.  Susan from www.fatfreevegan.com posted this last week on her blog.  I just thought I'd share this here with all of my fellow vegwebbers.

Thanks! I've been looking for raw cranberry recipes. I've got a fresh fig sorbet in the ice cream maker now. Sorbets rock 8)

Ha ha! My favorite fruit-- and I just bought 3 bags! AND I just inherited a jug of pear cider that a friend bought and didn't like... methinks cranberry sorbet is in my future (albeit a slightly modified recipe).

Please post if anyone makes this.  It sounds sooo good to me right now as I've got a scratchy throat.  Unfortunately, I have no energy to really make anything or go to the store.  I do plan on making this sometime soon, though.

LindsayLoo, that fig sorbet sounds amazing.  Please post a recipe.

Fresh fig "gelato":

http://www.foodnetwork.com/food/recipes/recipe/0,,FOOD_9936_27697,00.html

I was so excited when i found fresh figs at the store because i thought fig season was over, that i bought a bunch, forgetting about that pesky stabilizer called for in the recipe. So, with all those figs i figured, what the heck, i'm makin it anyway. I used guar gum, which, as far as i can tell, worked like a charm. Also, i only bothered to peel the figs that had thick or rough skin- I liked the specks of color and it didn't harm the texture at all. I found that 2 pints of figs make 3 cups of puree. Oh and i replaced about a third of the sugar with agave, and next time i'll replace it all.

I'm going to make the cranberry sorbet as soon as my pears ripen, so i'll report back!
I hope you feel better soon, willwolf. :)

Thanks for the well wishes, LindsayLoo.  Thanks, also, for posting the link to the fig gelato/sorbet.  I'm definitely putting this on my "try soon" list.

Okay, so i finally tried the cranberry sorbet (disclamer: i am not the biggest cranberry fan). I t was pretty tasty, except that i couldn't get over how bitter it was, no matter how much agave i used, and it was a little mealy- maybe i didn't process it long enough.  :( Has anyone else made this recipe yet?
