I made scones!

I've been worried about my baking skills - or my lack of baking skills. things NEVER seem to turn out right for me. but yesterday, I made scones (recipe from VWAV) and they're good! actually edible! I can't say how proud of myself I am! I didn't make substitutions - just followed the recipe. baking's a science... so I won't be experimenting until I understand the science.

yay! success!

WOOHOO, I'm happy for you laurabs  :)
Baking isn't a science at all. I know it sounds corny but the most important ingredient in any recipe is love ::)  If it's made with love, you can taste the difference ;)

Yeah, yeah, I am also taking up (vegan) cooking. But hey, look at it this way: being vegan makes cooking a lot easier cuz you don't have to know how to cook meat and fish (yuk!).

Anyway, thanks for the Wave Hello. A pity that this ... system doesn't allow more unless you pay.

BTW: How far's London from Toronto? Oh, I gotta change my profile text. I'm not about to move to Toronto anymore - I'm here already.

I first had cranberry scones in this french bakery I used to work in. Then I tasted other scones and the difference was startling. The french scones were sweet with sugar sprinkled on top. Almost muffin like. And all the scones I've tasted since have been pretty tough in texture and bland/not sweet. Sort of english muffin/biscuit-y. And they'd come with a side of jam. I'm guessing these are real scones.

Anyway, my question is, does anyone have a recipe for the sweet kind?  ???

London's about 2 hours from Toronto, give or take a bit. you enjoying toronto? have you checked out the toronto vegetarian association? they'd be a great group of people to hook up with. their website is www.veg.ca

Yep, I'm already a member. I can't wait for the food fair to begin. Toronto is cool. It's so veggie/friendly.

Stands for the popular vegan cookbook "Vegan With a Vengeance." Not a stupid question. :)
