Just bought some Dixie Diner Tuna "Not"...

...(as well as Cheese "Not" and their Cream of Mushroom Soup mix).  I was wondering if anyone has any experience with these products or any suggestions for recipes.

Thanks!
Susan

No, it's a powder that you reconstitute with hot water, then chill.

This is my first order from them, but I've known about them for years.  They have tons of vegan "fakes" (meat, cheese, milk, etc.), as well as baking products.  Sounds good, but I guess I'll soon find out.

If anyone's interested, the website is http://www.dixiediner.com/

Looks tempting.  I've used all kinds of American and Peruvian tvps in various sizes (never this brand name) and I generally find them more satisfying if they are soaked in warm water for a good while (30 minutes-an hour!) and that it helps to submerge them with a clean plate so that the ones on top absorb water.  Then a tart or rich sauce (tomatoey or gravy-like) or a stir-fry to get them lightly coated with oil makes them seem tastier.

I know what Baypuppy's talking about-- that canned Worthington Tuno is all but inedible for me, it's sooo fishy and so oily.  I have to rinse it a hundred times in fairly warm water to cut the layer of soybean oil, and it's still too greasy.  But you should not have that problem with a reconstituted tvp.
