Oh! It was the HAVARTI!

So the other day I decided to "branch out" and actually eat lunch whilst at work...So I go this sandwich from this place that advertises their bread is vegan....So I read what was in the sandwhich and it all seemed okay... (I'd eaten it before---must have been before going vegan though...)

The sandwich is so warm yummy and delicious and I loved it...but then, after I finished it and was sitting in front of my wrapper I suddenly became aware that i was picking at some cheese that had melted on to the paper! It looked like swish cheese or something but it was so mild I hadn't even tasted it...So I went back and grabbed a menu so that I could goggle the ingredients I didn't know---

Havarti, olive paste, basil pesto, artichoke hearts, roasted red peppers, tomato, red onion....

so apparently Havarti is cheese? :o Who would go tot eh trouble of making a vegan bread but not putting vegan ingredients in it?  >:(

oh well...I learned my lesson later....I learned it all night, actually ::) that will tech me to ASSUME!

Is pesto vegan...I ASSUMED it was because it is in VWAV...but maybe that was  a veganized version?

I've noticed a lot of pestos will have parmesan cheese in them so I always check the label.  :(

Havarti is indeed a Danish cheese....sort of like Denmark's version of Monterey Jack.

most sandwich places do not offer vegan sandwiches... the veggie ones almost always have cheese on them (because we need the protein, you know?!). i always pull my food apart if i didn't watch them make it to look for NVO (non veggie objects  8))

NVOs....hehehe...Ill have to look at that. This was a kinda goopy sandwich on account of the fact that it had wet artichoke hearts in it...I think i shall find out if the pesto is vegan....and I will ask them no to put the Havarti on it...the bread is so so good!!!!! Or Ill just buy the rolls and make my own...so, thats one thing...I dunno..

Mmmm... havarti with dill was my favorite cheese in pre-vegan days.  I'm sorry that happened.  You work really long hours, so I'm happy to hear you're eating at work.
