Out-of-this-world chai tea!

This isn't my recipe, but I just had to shout about it from the hilltops! It was a cool, cloudy day here today, and I was just in a comfy-cozy mood, so I decided to try this Spicy Chai Tea recipe that's been in my Recipe Box for awhile now... Let me tell you, it is THE BEST chai tea I have ever had in my whole entire life! :D And I love chai tea! So much healthier & cheaper than buying a mix, too!!!

There was only one review of this recipe, so I'm not sure if just not a lot of people have come across this recipe or what... But with autumn just around the corner, I just wanted to draw attention to it for those of you that enjoy a nice, warm cup of chai like I do! ;)

mmm looks good. What did you go with, fresh ginger or dry?

I just finished my review! :) I used dried ginger, and I think that was what the recipe meant to call for, as it added just the right amount of spice!

My mother thinks it's a great antedote to everything.

Oooh. I know what I'll be making when the weather starts to cool down a bit...that sounds delicious. Anything that calls for a zillion (or twenty!) cloves is a hit, in my book.

My fiance added that recipe! WE use fresh ginger when we have it, though we tend towards way more than it called for when he submitted it. It truly is the best chai ever. It is also great to make in dry batches (wrapped in cheesecloth, no water yet), to give as gifts. With instructions and the recipe, of course. It also makes the house smell like a home, a home that I want to eat!  ;)

Haha. :) Yes! Yum yum yum! I was also thinking of the gift idea! I think everyone who even sort of likes chai would enjoy this... It is just so delicious! Thank your fiance for the recipe! :D He is brilliant!

Gotta try this one. I love chai tea and would love to be able to make it from scratch. Thanks for posting this in the Q&A in addition to posting a review. I might not have noticed that since I haven't gone looking for a chai tea recipe. Oooo, and I, too, love the idea of making little bags for gifts.

This looks like a great recipe but I have a question: do you have to put soy milk or any other milk in it or could you just drink it black. I don't like milk in tea and even chai tea I prefer black. Would this recipe lend itself to that?

I think it would still be tasty without the milk--- though I prefer it with...

i drank it with and without soymilk. I actually like some chais better without soymilk; it seems spicier that way. this one worked fine either way.

i was so happy to find a chai recipe that wasn't black tea and cinnamon. Oregon Chai has had a horrible influence in this way, IMO. Now I'm back to the days of spicy chai!

Aw, jeez... :-* (I hate that face because I think the lips look gross, but if I could, I'd blow you a pretty kiss! ;))

I can't stand fennel---but I think I would like a spicy tea drink a lot (I love all of the other ingredients).  Is the fennel a must--I know it has a  distinctive flavor--or could I just leave it out? Substitute perhaps?

I actually don't like fennel, either... But it does lend a nice, subtle licorice-y flavor to this tea. I'm sure it would still be delicious without it, though! I wouldn't think it makes too much of a difference.

Nope, I don't think it needs fennel. I hate the licorice-y taste in some teas too, but the fennel in here doesn't contribute a lot to the taste. I just used it to be "accurate" and because I have a bunch of fennel seeds I never use. The spiciness is going to be from the ginger and cloves. I loooove ginger and cloves.

Thanks! I'll just leave the fennel out...
