Shopping List

I haven't gone food shopping in about two weeks. Things are pretty bleak over here! I don't even know where to start in composing my shopping list. What is on your list everybody? So far, I am thinking:

black beans
chickpeas
an onion
salad greens
some bread
maybe an avocado
maybe a tomato
whatever fruit looks good

Let me know!

I'm headed to Wild Oats today.

My list:
broccoli
cauliflower
spinach
beets
garilc
ginger
mushrooms
potatoes
tomatoes
croutons
millet
sprouted grain tortillas
agave nectar
vegetable broth
spirulina
avalon shampoo & conditioner

Mine usually includes the following,

romaine lettuce, peppers, cucumbers, broccoli, spinach, bean sprouts, broccoli sprouts, carrots, apples, pears, peaches, plums, corn, grapes, pineapple, zucchini, sweet and idaho potatoes, butternut and acorn squash, onions, green beans, sugar snap peas, tofu, ground boca, black beans, chick peas, kidney beans, great northern beans, organic croutons, wild rice, whole wheat pasta, pasta suace, and some frozen veggies like corn, peas, lima beans.  Oh... and tortillas, salsa, oatmeal, cereal, soy milk.

I usually write down staples as they run out so I know to replace them, then when I plan to go shopping I decide on about 3-5 dinners & buy the needed staples plus ingreadients to make those dinners and maybe a breakfast cereal and a couple of treats & snacks (including veggies like carrot sticks & fruit like pears). If I don't have a plan for everything that I buy I end up not using it.

I really like cornmeal.  I've been making a lot of polenta recently! :)

I think everyone has covered all the green leafy veggies... except collard greens.  They're pretty tasty.

Also... I love frozen peas.

Brussels sprouts.

Olives are pretty yummy too. :)

I was looking at larabars on the internet. Do they sell them in your local grocery or do you order them? What's your favorite flavor? I am thinking about getting some.

Well, everyone has pretty much covered it, so I'll just list what I bought yesterday. These were things I forgot to get Wednesday (that's my usual shopping day, because one of the stores has a double ad day that day...both weeks ads in effect)
Rice Milk
Tortillas
Currents
Goji Berries
Bread
Veggie Burgers (I'm lazy a lot)
Frozen Fruit

Sorry, I don't eat larabars, yet they are all over the place where I live. :D Opps, sorry!!! :-[

I love the apple pie ones! LSU must be hard up for money, though. Each bar is $2 in the union  :o

I plan out a menu (with a certain amount of flexibility) and make my list from there. I double check the basics (milk, bread, etc.) and go fromt here. I find that planning a menu can help you spend less and waste less.
