The Wonderful World of Hummus

Well boys and girls, the Yabbit has been experimenting once again, and I have to say I LOVE HUMMUS in all its permutations! So far I've done regular ol garbanzos, black beans, white beans...has anyone tried lentil hummus, and does it work?
I do have some plain old red kidney beans, gotta try that. Each legume lends a subtly different flavour to the mix.
Hummus is so good.
I've only ever made it with garbanzos, though.
Is it still called hummus if its made from a different bean? I've heard of bean pate before

technically no, since "hummus" means chickpea (or garbanzo) in hebrew and arabic
possibly if you mixed white beans and garbanzo (that's what I do)
you can get away with it though
check that one out... crazy! :)

My bf made red bean burgers (again from the fat-free vegan) and burger buns and I put a ton of the carrot hummus on each part of the bun. Tonight I'm think I might thin it out and try to put it on some pasta, but i don't know how that will work. I doesn't really taste carroty to me but i like it and it has a really lovely color.

I made it and it was delish. After sitting in the fridge for a day thought I had to add some more oil to it because it dried out a litttle bit and was difficult to spread. :)

OK. I don't have any red lentils right now (and the Asian grocery was actually OUT of tofu last Sat, so I am hacked at them and won't go in for a while.) I am going to get brave and try this with regular standard-issue lentils (cooked) and see what I get. I'll make a small quantity and that way if it's gross I can toss it without too much guilt.
anyone have a good recipe for black bean hummus?
This one is great!!

I left out the cilantro and subbed in a squeeze or two of lime juice along with the lemon. So far, it's my favourite hummus!!

I had the red lentils from a deli in the village where I work - they called it pate though. Piled high with roast veg on a sandwich - excellent. I have bought some white bean and lime 'dip' from the supermarket which is nice
