Roll Call!
Edit. The following intro is a bit old. I unfortunately ended my long term relationship after nearly ten years. Just couldn't be worked out. I got the house and the dogs and am relatively happy now. I finished my online RN to BSN program and am a genuine college graduate at the age of 48!!! Woot!
Edit #2 - I finally reached the ripe old age of 50 and am feeling fabulous! I always get the "you don't look 50" thing, and I attribute that to a healthy diet and lifestyle.
I deleted my Myspace page. I do have Facebook and love to have vegwebbers for friends. You can private message me and I'll give you my name. Or you can find me on the vegweb fan page.
Edit #3 - Finally went vegan. The last couple of years, I've been slowly getting there, replacing household and personal products with vegan items such as vegan soaps, candles, cleaners. I've bought vegan shoes, belts and wallets. I'm loving it! Decided to let my hair go naturally grey instead of coloring it so I don't get the "you don't look 50" thing as much anymore. LOL I now have a desk job in the admit-transfer center and hate it hate it hate. I just can't be stuck behind a desk, and I'm the lookout for something else.
Edit #4 - Found a position at the hospital I currnetly work on an ortho floor. I think I'll like returning to the bedside and not a desk job. w00t
It's been a while and I thought it might be nice to for everyone who posts here to tell a little about yourself. I took a little sabbatical from this site (went back to eating meat for two years..........bleech), but lurked from time to time, but have been a part of this site for gee, can it be 8 or more years???? But I don't know a lot of you.
I am a nurse. I am a male. (yes, a person who will remain nameless called me a "she".) I am gay. I've been in a monogamous relationship for the last nine years with a great guy who now travels a lot. I was an ovo-lacto veg*n for about 12 years before slipping, I plead insanity.
I'm currently in an online program to go from an ADN RN to BSN RN and hope to finally graduate from college at the age of 48 next year.
I have a very boring blog here: http://allnurses.com/forums/journal.php?do=showjournal&j=13

Hi, Everyone-- pleased to meet you!
My name's Christy. I'm vegan and live a few miles east of Atlanta. I love this site! I'm learning and trying lots of new-- and sometimes fantastic-- recipes. I love that all the recipes and posters are veggies. I know very few vegetarians/ vegans-- and work with and live with none.
I'm glad to be here.
xoxo
So, I'll tell my tale then.
I've been an on again off again veggitarian for about seven years now. It was difficult to be one growing up in a meat and potato family but my parents learned to compromise at the time. The only reason I became a meat eater again was because I was over at a friend's house and they had nothing and i'm not kidding here....NOTHING that didn't have meat product in it. At this point, I would have just went home but my parent's were gone on a trip so I ended up eating meat.
Now that I'm a bit older and a bit wiser, I went from eating meat to veggietarian for good for almost the past 4 months. I'm thinking I want to become a vegan because the food just tastes better! :D Losing the cruelty to animals is an added bonus.
I could definately use some advice on how to switch from veggie to vegan. I've been reading the message boards for the big switch but any advice from you guys would be great!
On another note, I work for the domestic peace corps and I also work at a handicapped home. I love to voulenteer and play dodgeball on the side. I'm a strong christain and I don't mind dancing on a saturday night!
I would love to get to know all of you and I will enjoy meeting everyone here!
Have fun and be careful! :D

Hi! It has been a while. I am a gluten-free vegan and I haven't been to vegweb in a long time, but remembered what a great and supportive site it always was to me. (I had a beautiful picture of my dog up before) I have been inspired to try new yummy vegan recipes after reading many vegan blogs and came back for some. It is so helpful that they are all reviewed so you don't mess them up! I hope you haven't missed me too much!
(Hi yabbitgirl and lisaanddini.)
What happened to the chat room? It is...empty and...barren. :o
If anyone wants to say hello. I will be in there.
Another newb here. :P
I am very new to this site and veganism. I actually skipped vegetarian all together and went totally vegan about 3 weeks ago. Prior to that I was a meat/cheese eatin' fool! I never thought I'd be vegan and even moreso, be so ecstatic about it! I love this lifestyle and can't think of going back to putting that junk into my body. I also have tried to stay away from processed foods. My diet before was horrible, I would diet and not know why I couldn't lose weight. Funny, three weeks being vegan and my body has already changed so much. That's not why I went vegan, it's just a nice perk. I LOVE animals, and finally stopped ignoring what I knew was going on in factory farms and decided to take a stand against it. Couldn't be any happier about my decision!
I'm a 23 year old nurse (RN) and I work on a psych floor. I like it for the most part. Cooking is my absolute passion, I can't get enough of it. I am having a blast cooking up all these new recipes with all these new foods! It's like a whole new world to me because I hardly ever ate fruits/veggies before. I am single, almost got married but cancelled three weeks before the big day. I have 2 boxers who I adore...they are my babies! They are probably too much for me because my boy is wild as can be, but I wouldn't give them up for the world now. I think I love my animals more than people sometimes.. I'm sure someone can relate.
Anyways, there's more to me, but that's a good little summary! I'm super happy to be here!

I've gone vegetarian a few times in my life, and finally went vegan. I am way happier and healthier now. I have a daughter named delilah I call her deloo, she is also vegan :)>>>...I love her soooooo much!
I recently became obsessed with whole food's asian brown rice salad and their vegan curry chicken salad.
I dont believe animals were put on this earth to serve us, for me being vegetarian was not good enough but it can overwhelming to go vegan, its the awesomest way to live though and i'm proud to say i have my own little vegan family
Welcome MaryJane! I love your name.....

I wanna know who this is. ???
Hi! I've been lurking on this site for almost a year now. I guess I'm technically an ovo-lacto-vegetarian. I eat vegan at home, don't cook with or consume animal milk or egg products, but do occasionally have a slice of pizza (major weaknesses) or eat out at a non-veg restaurant (choices are usually breads or pasta, which inevitably have milk and/or eggs). I stopped eating eggs when a friend referred to them as "aborted chicken fetuses", and I've never really been a consumer of milk.
I started off slow- woke up one day, after deliberating the decision for a coupla years (I was a big time foodie and (ashamed to say) a foie gras lover...), and made the decision not to eat meat and I haven't looked back. It surprisingly wasn't that difficult, especially since I conditioned myself to become nauseous everytime I saw a piece of meat. Becoming vegan however, without full use of a kitchen (gotta stick with the quickie meals), is proving a bit difficult for the work involved, but I will get there!
I'm also a 'part-time' raw foodist/fruitarian. I go on regular fasts/detoxes on fruit (80-10-10), sometimes juice and rarely water.
Anyway, thought I'd introduce myself. Happy Hump Day!
Hey All...I've been on this site for a little over a year and a half but just recently started using it as a tool towards my journey into vegetarian-ism. I've been meat-free since January and its been a relatively easy transition. I still eat dairy and eggs, and I don't know if I'll be able to ween myself away from those (I am obsessed with cheese!!), but hey, we'll see!
I chose to go this direction because of health matters (I know, sounds typical) but my cholesterol is high and since I do not have a family medical history (I'm adopted by two amazing, wonderful parents), I really don't want to take any chances when it comes to my body and overall health! (If only I could figure out how to get rid of my sweet tooth though!)
A little about me: I grew up in small-town north Iowa (hence the name), graduated from college at St. Cloud State University (Minnesota) with a BS in Mass Communications and a French minor. For six years, I slaved away and stressed myself out to pieces in the (dreadful) mortgage industry and have since left that business and am working as an Admin Asst. at a local university in Minneapolis and also studying for the LSAT in hopes of going to law school in 2010. In my free time away from my desk and textbooks, I enjoy boating on Lake Minnetonka, reading, listening to music, exercising/working out, walking/running/biking, and OF COURSE, cooking!

Let me know if you figure it out, to warn you a was a UPS boy over Christmas in the NE, I am the vegan corn dog eating champagne at the hunger tiger, and a pedicab driver downtown. :)
Hey, just found this site and thought i would sign up, I was actually looking for an article on vegetables for my turtles. ;D My latest hobby is my turtles, Bobby and Robson who i love to pieces!! I've been vegetarian for 13 years (im now 22), my mum use to take to a horse rescue place and one fateful trip i found a leaflet on how cruelly animals are kept for slaughter. :o i was made to continue to eat chicken for the next year but then i managed to get that cut out as well. i've never eaten fish so this was never an issue.
i have also cut out most dairy bar cheese. ive tired the vegan stuff but it just doesnt cut it. plus money is tight at the moment and cheese sandwiches have become my main staple of food, which is even worse considering i have a mild intolerance to wheat. But hopefully from this site i can build up some recipes which arent too expensive to make and wont take much time to prepare...and maybe get rid of this cheese addiction. i really want to be a fully fledged vegan!
i am originally from the UK but for the last 6 months i have been living in Dubai with my boyfriend. I am training to be an environmental lawyer but needed some cash so now im working for a law firm here as a paralegal. my parents also live in new zealand so i go there as much as i can to see them.
il prob be around quite a bit, i get bored at work and spend my time on forums.
