Roll Call!
Edit. The following intro is a bit old. I unfortunately ended my long term relationship after nearly ten years. Just couldn't be worked out. I got the house and the dogs and am relatively happy now. I finished my online RN to BSN program and am a genuine college graduate at the age of 48!!! Woot!
Edit #2 - I finally reached the ripe old age of 50 and am feeling fabulous! I always get the "you don't look 50" thing, and I attribute that to a healthy diet and lifestyle.
I deleted my Myspace page. I do have Facebook and love to have vegwebbers for friends. You can private message me and I'll give you my name. Or you can find me on the vegweb fan page.
Edit #3 - Finally went vegan. The last couple of years, I've been slowly getting there, replacing household and personal products with vegan items such as vegan soaps, candles, cleaners. I've bought vegan shoes, belts and wallets. I'm loving it! Decided to let my hair go naturally grey instead of coloring it so I don't get the "you don't look 50" thing as much anymore. LOL I now have a desk job in the admit-transfer center and hate it hate it hate. I just can't be stuck behind a desk, and I'm the lookout for something else.
Edit #4 - Found a position at the hospital I currnetly work on an ortho floor. I think I'll like returning to the bedside and not a desk job. w00t
It's been a while and I thought it might be nice to for everyone who posts here to tell a little about yourself. I took a little sabbatical from this site (went back to eating meat for two years..........bleech), but lurked from time to time, but have been a part of this site for gee, can it be 8 or more years???? But I don't know a lot of you.
I am a nurse. I am a male. (yes, a person who will remain nameless called me a "she".) I am gay. I've been in a monogamous relationship for the last nine years with a great guy who now travels a lot. I was an ovo-lacto veg*n for about 12 years before slipping, I plead insanity.
I'm currently in an online program to go from an ADN RN to BSN RN and hope to finally graduate from college at the age of 48 next year.
I have a very boring blog here: http://allnurses.com/forums/journal.php?do=showjournal&j=13
You're turn. Tell me your business!
Welcome nuniflo! :bear2:
Hi there! I'm Kaz... I'm an Ovo-vegetarian living in the highlands of Scotland. I've used this site for quite a while now, but have never gotten round to introducing myself. So hello! Looking forward to following your posts :-)
potatohead, Well. I think there are. Idk, not in my town. The town right next to me there are though! theres even a vegan doughnut place! but i've never been do any of them... So i think like, everything around my town there are some. Hah.
Hey kaz!! Scotland?! Thats awesome!!! Welcome to the site, glad you came on over to the forum to introduce yourself.
Hi everyone! My name's Ali, I'm 20 and I live in sunny South Africa, which is living up to the adjective very well now that it's the beginning of spring. I've been vegan for 2 years, and I discovered VegWeb in March. Because I am a loser, it took me this long to realise that the site had not only great recipes, but forums (fora?) full of cool people! So here I am. Hello! :)
Audrey, where in FL are you? I'm on the west coast! Like, 40 minutes south of Tampa. Its so cool that your daughter is veg too!!!
Wonderyort, Theres a meetup in SF (i believe, i havent kept up cause i'm so far away, heh). You should look at the thread about that and see if youre close!! then you and your hubby can go eat yummy foods and meet all the cool vegwebbers!
Savvyidler, Your doggies are crazy cute! Its awesome that you take care of them! And in a responsible matter to where they're not all having babies and such and making the population higher!
Welcome to everyone :)
Cape Coral, tragically, man this coast just feels weird to me still! Been 4 years...I still don't know how I feel about it aside from bored! Ha.
Hi everyone!
My name is Sarah and I live in Dela-where? I am 26 and I am an adjunct instructor at a community college. I am pursuing my doctoral degree in Education. I am single and have no kids. I am a lit nerd. I read and write poetry. I love to read-- a lot of contemporary fiction. I'm pretty laid back but I'm a Gemini, so I definitely have two sides! I have a 2 year old cat named Oliver...he is funny and has a lot of personality. He is what you would call a "tuxedo" cat. Sometimes he chews up my cords...I cannot tell you how many cell phone chargers I have gone through!! He has also chewed up my mini-blinds. (Any suggestions for how to stop him from doing this would be greatly appreciated!)
I have never liked meat. As a child during holidays, I was the one who would bypass the turkey and ham and just eat the mashed potatoes and sweet potatoes and all the yummy side dishes! When I finally decided to cut out meat completely as an adult, it was an easy transition! Now I am reading all of this information on going vegan, and I know I'd like to make that lifestyle change. This website has been a GREAT resource, and I cannot wait to try out the new recipes.
:D
welcome WannaGoVegan!
my cat chews all my cords too! and she's black and white......hmmmmm
welcome!!!! ~^_^~
Hello everyone,
I have been using this site for the past year and a half, but only started really reading the chit chat forum the past few months, (when I've had some time off of school,) considering ny next semester starts tomorrow my activity may go back down. My name is Jess, I was living in Kauai, Hawaii for the past four years but moved back home to good ol' Minnesota to finish up some graduate school a while ago I've been meaning to get to. I have an almost 2 year old who is vegan and a boyfriend,(her father,) who I have dragged back here with me for a couple of years, if he can stand the winters and lack of surfing for that long!
I am a behavioral therapist and do in-home therapy with children and families affected by autism. I am going back to school to become a board certified behavioral therapist then hopefully returning to Hawaii to work and be warm!
I have been vegetarian for a pretty long time, and vegan for 1.5 years now!!! I love it!!! I try to make occasional raw meals and am hoping to gradually add more of those into my everyday life! ((just got a dehydrater and have made some crackers that were pretty sweet!))
I love children!!!!! dancing!!!, reading)!!!, amatuer cake decorating, knitting, reality tv shows, (Whale Wars is my favorite!!! Also So you think you can dance,SuperNanny, Wife swap, etc..) If anyone has questions on soy free vegan stuff or vegan kid food, I've been learning alot and would be happy to help!
Hi, babysgotsauce.
You may have seen these threads, but just in case. The book threads are older, but not dead.
So You Think You Can Dance (last season)

What are you reading right now? (Fiction or non-fiction)
The official book club
Hey! We're talking about the new season in the SYTYCD thread. Not last season! There's also Top Chef and Project Runway threads in chitchat.
I'm checking those out asap, thanks!
hello, everyone. my name is lori and i've switched my diet to vegan this summer. my mother just called asking me if i knew of any good restaurants by me to get a good hamburger. seriously, she called and expected an answer. i'm sure it's been discussed many times before but i was wondering how you all handled people not taking you seriously or trying to get a rise out of you in the beginning? any imput would be much appreciated.
thank you :)
i am a girl. i am a teacher. i have been checking out recipes here for years, this is the first time i see happy hour. i live in bklyn ny. i have 9 cats & 1 dog. i'm stR8 & single.
vegetarian 22 years-ish, vegan about 7. finishing grad school. i do TNR in my "spare" time. i'm pretty tired.
Oh, hi!
I guess I should introduce myself formally. I'm Anna and I'm 27. I live in Austin, TX with my family, which consists of one gorgeous and sassy 7-year-old daughter, three dogs (Seven, Rosemary Lily May, and Jake) and my partner. I'm a writer, but I wish I could just cook all day long. My partner is a handsome guy with a big beard. He loves his bike and metal shows. He's about 90% vegn, 10% omni.
Our kiddo and I are both vegan. I became a lacto-vegetarian at age 13 after realizing meat wasn't very appetizing because it's dead. Ew. My daughter can't digest dairy (tummy trouble and headaches) and her intolerance pushed us to go vegan several years ago. We travel as much as we can, read books, play outside with our dogs and eat lots of really great food. I like tattoos and wine and fancy shoes. It's a pleasure to meet all of you.
xoxo,
MA
Mammaanna, I love swaping mommy/kiddo stuff on here! I liked your what did kids eat today thread, (where is it now, looked quickly, but not that carefully.) Our stories seem a bit similar, I was vegetarian for a long time but made the switch to vegan when my daughter's allergies became apparent. My partner is mostly vegan as well, (since I do all the cooking/shopping,) but doesn't pass up cheese, etc when others offer it, but hes very supportive of my daughter and I .) It was a little hard going totally cold turkey butI've now loved being vegan for the past year and a half.
Anyways, thought I'd give ya a shout out and of course to everyone else thats been so cool on here as well.
Hi, all,
I've had an account on here for ages, for the purpose of posting and saving recipes. Only lately has it occurred to me to use this site for social purposes.
I'm Mary, a college student in Pennsylvania. I'm about a month shy of turning 22. I'll be graduating from the music program at my small, libral arts college in the spring and am hoping to head to Temple U for a master's in music therapy. I've been a lacto-ovo since I was 11, and I turned vegan with a friend about 11 months ago. I'm the only vegetarian in my family.
I can't wait to meet the rest of you!
Welcome to all the new, returning, and new to posting members! I hope you'll end up enjoying vegweb as much as I do.
Hi everyone!
I've been using this site for... maybe three years now? anyway, never got around to actually making an account or introducing myself, so it's about time!
My name is laura, I'm 18, vegan, live in Fort Lauderdale, am owned by one guinea pig, love to cook, bake, paint/draw, make jewerly... It goes on. I've been vegan for a year now, previously a pescetarian who really hated her lifestyle and was dying to become vegan, but couldn't because of parents. I don't have many vegan or vegetarian friends, am single, and a student.
Anyway, this site is completely awesome, and I hope to start contributing recipes of my own soon!
Hi!
I'm a married female. I live in Tennessee. I'm a pescetarian who doesn't eat dairy. I like to read and crochet.
