carrageenan?

In Myoko Schinner's new cookbook,"Artisan Vegan Cheese" she has a recipe for mozarella that I'm dying to try. It calls for carrageenan, which has been found to be unhealthy in very large amounts, so no health food stores carry it. I was hoping to buy it in bulk, because it's about $45/lb packaged. Does anyone have any idea where I might be able to find it (in New England)? Thank you!
