Vegweb Product Review Club!

Hey All,
I've been reading (and contributing) to a lot of the threads about tofu dogs, toothpaste, shoes, egg replacers, deodorant, lotions, makeup, etc. and it got me thinking. I know we all use vegweb for the loads of great recipes, but of course veg*nism is more than just food - unfortunately animals are exploited for a great many products.

Does everyone just look at how people rank products on vegan essentials and I'm out of the loop? Is BP going to start a Product Review club? Is the Diva cup even on there?
If there's not a secret source elsewhere on the internet, let's start a campaign to review every purchase we make!

Good Ideas! I think both the products and restaurants tabs have potential. I'm going to start adding to them now!

i wasn't really aware of the product review section. i think i looked a couple times, back in the day, and it wasn't helpful. i'll take another peak. it would be esp good since often questions about products come up on here.
another thing people can check out is the "restaurants" tab. i added a lot of places for my "homeland" but many cities need help! the place doesn't have to be 100% vegan... it just needs to have some vegan chow. added things are reviewed by admin, so it does take a little time for them to get up (she's so busy dealing with us!!). but for cities with reviews, it is uber helpful.

2. There are very very very few product reviews currently.
3. My experience has been that the product reviews (can't speak to restaurants) are infinitely faster at being posted than the recipes.
I rated a couple of restaurants that never got posted. Maybe I screwed it up though...
It keeps telling me I need to log in to review a restaurant and I'm already logged in. I want to get the ball rolling
I also posted a couple restaurants and they never appeared. I thought that maybe they had to be review like recipes?

I reported the issue to the admin when I submitted a restaurant review a few weeks ago so they're aware of the issue. Apparently there's not quick and easy fix for whatever the problem is. Hopefully it'll get sorted out soon.
Doooood. Has the Products tab always been there? I just noticed it after reading this thread.
BTW - I just posted a vegan Palms Springs restaurant. It can be the test subject to see if it gets posted or lost in cyberspace.
Kudos to dinkfeet for bringing this to everyone's attention. I have a habit of coming straight to the Q&A section when I log on and then checking the new recipes on the main page before logging off and never even opening up the other tabs! Shame on me for not making fuller use of all the site features! :-[

You should ask Admin - it's probably easy to add a category. I'm going to comb through my cookbooks tonight, but so far today I've put all my facial products and toothbrushes (yay Recycline!) on there!

There have been some more discussions on the threads about the best soy milks, cheese substitutes, etc. I wanted to remind you all to post those opinions on the product review too so vegweb can be an oh-so-great resource! ;D
Vegwebbers - this is a call to RAID YOUR PANTRIES! Rant and Rave about your products! For instance, I'm definitely going to spread the word that rice syrup is a no-no, but rice milk is a Yes! Yes!
dharmablues - post and be heard! we need a place to know what to buy and what to avoid because some of that stuff is freakin' expensive! I'm going to raid my baking pantry and see what to post...mmm..King Arthur's flour!
bp - what is this? you and I have the same bathroom supplies? You're countering me on all my toiletries!
all - any reviews of dog treats and food would be much appreciated! I'd like to transition Cody to veg*n dog food, but believe it or not he has a sensitive stomach, so I only want to try it once. Any suggestions?

I do the same thing when I log on to VegWeb. Go to Q&A, drool over the food photos on the main page. Thank you dinkfeet for making me aware of the Product Reviews tab. I hope others catch on too.
