February Boston meet up?

So, I'm going to be in Boston Feb. 14-18 for a science conference and will have quite a bit of time to kill (don't have a whole lot of conference duties except to present a poster that Saturday) and would totally love to meet up w/ VegWeb folks for a lunch or dinner if anyone is around. Also, I'll be going to the conference w/ all omnis and would love to check out vegan restaurants/hang out w/ cool vegans in the area since there will likely not be any vegan food at the conference (I went last year and yuck  :P ).

If anyone's up for it, post here. If not, no biggie, but I thought I'd give it a whirl!

Hey, I would totally be up for having a meal while you're here in Feb. I'm sure Dink  and JW502 would be up for it as well (it's ok, they've authorized me to plan their social lives  ;D ) When it gets closer to time for your trip, post again and we'll work something out! Do you know where you'll be staying?

I think we're staying at the Sheraton Boston on Dalton St.? If not there, we'll be at a hotel near there because that's where the convention is at.

Thanks for the tips, BP! The university is paying for everything, so I don't have to worry about hotel costs.  Although, I wish they would just say you have X dollars to spend on a room; whatever you don't spend you can keep b/c I don't need to stay at a fancy pants hotel, but whatever.  ::) I'm glad there is a TJ's there--that's exciting! I can at least get breakfast and lunch foods to munch on.

Yay! I hope we can all meet up!

Okay, now I'm totally jealous. How can the Boston/Albany webbers meet without the rest of the bookfamily?  :'( I'll just have to live vicariously again (the story of my life). But...you can be sure bookpapa and I will be getting all the dirt from CeltKat when it's over.  :w00t!:

Say, baypuppy and dinkfeet, who is ahead in meeting the most vegwebbers? (Not to get something started or anything.  ;) )

Bookmama - you're such a trouble maker! To be honest, I think BP and I are tied for notches.

kbuettne - you're so awesome to kick-start another vegweb-a-gather. I vote we try out the new raw vegan place in Boston's Little Italy: The North End. Is Friday or Saturday better for you?

Man, if I didnt already have a NJ trip planned for the weekend before I would totally be all over this.  Unfortunately with that trip our non-house savings is gone.  :(

Drats.  Take pictures and ship us goodies!  :D

Grezzo looks sweet! .. If I didn't have to get ready for a conference the following week in California I'd totally make the drive from western MA..

have fun and do report back on the eats! I've been looking forward to someplace new to go instead of veggie-planet-all-the-time.

Um - isn't Peter Pan the best place to "get ready for a conference?"  ;)

Haha - yes, an excellent point.  Besides my intense hatred of the entire PP empire, I don't do so good with the reading and being productive on buses.  It's like I'm still 7 with the motion sickness and whatnot.  hmmm.  If I get access to a car and get my junk together, I might think about it.  :)

You Bostonians should remember to always take out of town guests to Boston Beer Works across the street from Fenway Park. I don't think they have any vegan food there but who cares? They have frosty cold pitchers of Kenmore Kolsch (drool) and Back Bay IPA. When you're done it's a short stumble to the T station in Kenmore Square.

People's Republik in Cambridge!

I once saw a guy drink beer from a prosthetic leg there.

I'm serious.

Ooo! That sounds like a fun place! Friday would likely be better for me because Saturday is the last night of the conference and I will likely have "duties" to tend to. Woohoo! I'm excited!

Grezzo sounds like a good idea.
kb if you're in search of other vegan places to eat on other days during your stay we can help!  here are a few:
Buddha's Delight in Chinatown (Asian, the location seems a little sketchy at first but the food is good)
Grasshopper in Allston (Asian, lots of faux meat products)
TJ Scallywaggle's in Allston (next door to Grasshopper, completely vegan pizza and sub shop)
Veggie Planet in Cambridge/Harvard Square (various yummy things, not all items are 100% vegan)

There are probably lots of other places downtown too, but I live outside of the city so don't know them.

Awesome! Thanks JW! I think I have heard of this TJ Scallywaggles you speak of. Are all  of these places omni-friendly (not necessarily having meat options, but omni-approved?)? I don't really want to eat alone the whole time I'm there--I like my fellow conference attendees, but I'm not sure how open minded they are to trying new things  ::)
