Marriage Anniversary.......What do you look forward to ?

Friends,

I looked in archives for such a topic but could not find it.
Hence this new topic.

Today, on 8th June 1972, I got married , This makes me complete 37 years of a fine married life with its usual ups and downs.
But it makes me feel that it was and is a period of being complete.

I must thank my wife for bearing with  bear with an eccentric man like me for 37 years.
Thaks Madam.

NJA

NJA, Congratulations to you &  Mrs. NJA  on your 37th anniversary  :)>>>

jessesdad & I have been together for 22 years. Although we have not had the legal marriage ceremony, we do consider ourselves to be married. What do I look forward to? Honestly....growing old together....grandbabies someday  :)

Congratulations on your anniversary ;)b. I hope the two of you have a wonderful day together and many more happy years to come.

On July 25th we will have been married for 24 years...I can hardly believe it.  I recently spent time with my mother and my aunt (both of whom I hardly ever see) and my aunt asks me "are you still married to the same man?"  Wha?  Ummm, yeah.

It seems that a lot of people don't take commitment seriously.  When I married my husband I married him forever.  I love him with all of my heart so that makes it easy though.  I do not judge anyone that is divorced...sometimes things just can't work especially if your partner decides it can't...anyway I digress.

Hey Thanks jessemum and THH,

This institution called Marriage is fast disappearing over here in its sanctity and as a social foundation.
It is so good to see people with long lasting marriages and companionship.

May be after another 25 years, there will be prizes for marriages lasting more than five years. ;D

Congrats!  Hope you had a great anniversary!
My 12th is at the end of he month.  I'm looking forward to our 50th (here's hoping).

I like the idea of prizes, but how about making it a custom to give gifts on the 5th anniversary, instead of at the wedding?  That way, if you don't make it 5 years, I don't have to buy you a blender. :)

Thanks savyidler,

Blender eh!!
That's a great pun.....B,,,L...E...N...D...E...R.

I think a blender for me is not enough now. I need a "center of the room" kitchen with all the works  for having lived through 37 anniversaries...LOL

This August 18th will be just a mere 8 year for J and I, but it seems like longer, in a good way.  Marriage is forever in our lives too, my parents have been married for 37 year and my husband's parents for 42 year this summer.  My folks and I have the same anniversary, and my in laws is just the day before, on the 17th.  It made for a fun party after the wedding.  In July my grandparents will celebrate their 60th anniversary.

Congrats on 37 anniversaries, NJA!
I'm totally unqualified to add to this thread, having not let reached our second anniversary, but wanted to share a small commitment-related story.
When we married last year, my husband's eleven year old brother was the one who figured out that our wedding was in the same year as his parents' 25th wedding anniversary and his grandparents' 50th wedding anniversary , so he suggested we have a huge party in 25 years for a combined 25th/50th/75th anniversary celebration.  We all just thought it was so sweet, and nice to see such optimism and faith in the longevity of relationships from someone who is growing up in a generation that is getting a shorter and shorter attention span by the minute...

26 years ago today, I married my Honey....it was Friday the 13th 1983 ;D Alot of friends thought we were nuts to get married on Friday the 13th, but it has worked out great for us..we have raised two sons 26 and 23, and the oldest son has blessed us with 2 grandsons 5 and almost 2....Life has been good, and I hope to have at least 26 more good years with my honey....now if I could only make him embrace the vegan lifestyle....AHHHH keep dreaming ;D

I look forward to the rest of our life together. Like a fine cognac, marriages shouldn't age, but mellow. And be better with every passing year.

Congrats!  Hope you had a great anniversary!  #

Decide with your spouse whether you want to exchange gifts or buy something together. Consider looking up the traditional gift for your anniversary year and buying something that relates; if you decide to buy something as a couple, exchange small tokens like cards or flowers.
#
Step 2

Plan a quiet evening or getaway together. Many couples like to observe their anniversary in a private, intimate manner, especially early anniversaries.
#
Step 3

Arrange a small party for your closer family and friends, if desired. If you decide to have a get-together, begin by inviting the bridal party from the wedding.
#
Step 4

Plan a large party if celebrating a landmark anniversary, such as the 10th, 25th or 50th. Again, begin by inviting members of the wedding parties.
#
Step 5

Consider reaffirming your wedding vows if you'd like to recreate your wedding, or have the large wedding you never had.

Congrats to all of you that have long, happy marriages!
My husband and I will be having our 1 year on Aug 11. I know its nothing in comparison to everyone else, but I can say being married is awesome!
On another note, this would be my parents 34th anniversary on Nov 25, but my father passed away 9 years ago. I remember always thinking I was so lucky to have my parents still together while it seemed like the rest of my friends had divorced parents.

My wife and I celebrated our 20th year of marriage yesterday.

Not much of a celebration these days. We exchanged cards. :)
