I forget to mention that I used coconut oil to fry them up in an iron skillet.

After reading all of the reviews I opted to saute my veggies.  I added some crushed garlic, but will add more next time.  I used garbanzo flour as 3 of us are gluten free.  To help bind the mixture together I made a paste of ground up chia seeds and water (2tsp. chia seed and 4 tsp h2o).  They stayed together perfectly.  2 of our kids loved them as well as my husband, all non vegetarians.

I bought some dry bulk-bin calypso (heirloom?) beans from Whole Foods recently, so tried this bean burger recipe out with those. I left out the oil, used teff flour, added in some more vegetables and also poppy seeds and sesame seeds. Came out well, had these with ketchup, mustard, barbecue sauce, tomatoes and fixings. Will be making them again Smile

I didn't have any celery, but I added Nutritional Yeast for more complexity and replaced the flour with Vital Wheat Gluten, making the patty nice and chewy. Good stuff, yo!

These are great burgers. My meat eating husband loved them. I put red pepper, onion and mushroom in mine. I loved how they turned out and am already thinking about different seasonings that can be used. This a very versatile recipe and I will be making this again.

I don't know why mine came out so different from everyone else's...I made these for lunch for my family today and they were very dry tasting. I have had that experience before when making burgers with chickpeas, so maybe it's just those, or maybe I needed to add more of something. palatable, but not desirable.

These are the best alternative burgers I have ever had in my life.
The didn't hold together well, which would be semi-annoying if I weren't practically having an orgasm right now.
I'll try adding egg replacer next time.
These are freakin' delicious!

These held together well (I might have used more oil) but were soooooo plain! By themselves the burgers were bland but tasted fine with all the fixings... I think a lot of extra spices would make these burgers great... I fried mine with cooking spray instead of oil

good.  needed some more zip, so we added garlic, red pepper, cayenne and cumin to the mix.  much better.  I added a flax egg to hold it together and it worked well.  I'd double recipe next time, probably add even more garlic and cayenne and freeze some for a quick meal.  Although the prep for this is pretty minimal if you have cooked beans.

Thanks for the yummy recipe.

AWESOME bean burgers! A definite keeper! I cooked up the onion/celery/carrot and some garlic first.... and they came out super tasty!

I am curious about baking instead of frying these, too! I might try that next time.
